Jan 29, 2020 at 5:13 AMFrom now on, Swiss online shoppers at Digitec Galaxus in the city of Zurich can enjoy express delivery: Those who order online on weekdays by 1:00 PM will receive their purchases on the same evening – quickly and packaging-free via the logistics partner notime.
(Zurich, January 28, 2020) On digitec and Galaxus, online shoppers can find almost everything. The two shops now offer more than three million items. The largest Swiss online department store now delivers the most popular products in the city of Zurich as quickly as lightning: Those who order items that are ready in the warehouse in Wohlen, Aargau, by 1:00 PM will receive their delivery on the same evening. And at no extra charge. For the approximately 2000 products available at the digitec store in Zurich’s Technopark, even an order placed by 3:00 PM is sufficient.
Expansion to Other Locations
The new delivery option at digitec and Galaxus is called “express delivery.” The logistics partner for this service is the technology company notime, a subsidiary of Swiss Post specialized in same-day and time-slot deliveries. In the first pilot phase, residents of Zurich benefit from this delivery option. “If the express delivery is well received by customers, we will offer this service in other cities as well,” says Johannes Cramer, COO of Digitec Galaxus.
Lightning Fast and Packaging-Free
Digitec Galaxus delivers to its eleven stores from Wohlen once a day. The Zurich store even benefits from two deliveries a day. The products ordered by customers with the express delivery option are handed over to the notime drivers for sorting and delivery. The couriers deliver the orders using e-vehicles such as cargo bikes and tricycles right to the customer’s doorstep. The products are delivered without additional cardboard packaging or filling material. Not only does the saved packaging relieve the environment, but also the climate-neutral delivery on the last mile.An SMS informs the customer about the time slot for the express delivery. Via mobile phone, the customer can then communicate directly with the driver, adjust their time slot, and track the driver live on the last stretch. If the customer is not at home, they will find their order in the milk box. Through the Followme portal, customers of digitec and Galaxus can exclude the possibility of the package being left behind.
