In light of the Corona pandemic threat, pakadoo parcel lockers can play an important role by facilitating the contactless delivery of goods and items.
(Böblingen) In addition to hospitals, supermarkets, and transportation companies, there are numerous other institutions and businesses that ensure that public life continues to function at this time. They cannot send their employees to work from home. Deliveries are still being received and distributed in companies. To avoid contact with other people, parcel delivery services have now switched to contactless delivery. The problem is: the package is in the building but has not yet reached the recipient. This is where pakadoo provides a solution. The digital delivery solution offers companies and other institutions an easy way to handle private and business deliveries at the workplace professionally and contactlessly. Online purchases are delivered to the company and stored in the pakadoo parcel locker. In addition to online orders, part of the internal logistics can be managed through the parcel locker, such as exchanging important documents like contracts or keys for company cars easily and contactlessly.
Packages delivered to private addresses but not accepted often end up in parcel shops. Many of these are integrated into retail stores and are therefore also affected by closures. The consequence: packages cannot be picked up or returned. pakadoo parcel lockers are also installed in public spaces, for example, in the LAGO shopping center in Konstanz, where all stores are closed except for grocery stores, a drugstore, and a pharmacy. There, ordered packages can still be picked up and returned contactlessly via the pakadoo locker.
“Now it is important to avoid social contacts to contain the spread of the coronavirus as efficiently as possible,” emphasizes pakadoo CEO Markus Ziegler. “We are pleased if we can contribute a small part with our smart logistics solution.”
This is how pakadoo’s parcel lockers work
The storage of delivered shipments is carried out by an employee of the company – regardless of the parcel service provider. The individual compartments can be intuitively operated – depending on the model – either via a central, integrated control unit or a keyless TAN procedure. When a delivery is stored in one of the compartments, the recipient automatically receives a notification via email or through the myPAKADOO app. By entering their PAK ID or a personal TAN, they can pick up their package at any time and, if necessary, also handle returns through the parcel locker. The compact parcel lockers are available in different sizes, module variants, and colors and can be individually configured to fit any property – both for indoor and outdoor use. Only a power supply and a network connection are required to put the pakadoo parcel lockers into operation.
