(Bonn, 06.04.2020) The Courier Express Post Corona Situation Center was activated by the Federal Association of Courier Express Post Services e.V. Especially older people are significantly affected by the consequences of the coronavirus. They are more likely than younger people to experience severe illness. To reduce the risk of infection, social distancing is particularly important here. In return, there is a need for assistance offers that make this situation more bearable for them. Support measures can be effectively implemented when residential neighborhoods with a high proportion of older residents are known. For example, the supply of daily necessities or other assistance in everyday life can be better planned.
Nexiga provides interactive maps free of chargeNexiga – partner of the Federal Association of Courier Express Post Services e.V. (BdKEP) Corona Situation Center, provides nationwide interactive maps to represent the population structure down to the level of residential neighborhoods. A residential neighborhood contains a maximum of 500 households. Access is free during the crisis period. Among other things, the proportion and number of citizens of different age groups in the population can be visualized. Based on this information, retailers in combination with courier and postal services have the opportunity to develop services targetedly. For example, this could mean shopping services for groceries for older citizens, or providing younger families with new spring shoes for their children.

“We are pleased if our data and expertise can help in coping with the crisis. We are convinced that geodata and socio-demographic characteristics can help citizens, retailers, and KEP services to master the crisis as best as possible. At the same time, we see many potentials for how this data can support stakeholders in digitizing their business models,” says CEO Dirk Schneider, Nexiga GmbH.
“I am pleased that Nexiga is making this important data available free of charge during the Corona crisis through the KEP Corona Situation Center. The market is undergoing a significant transformation. In these turbulent times, participants can come together through the tool who would never have met in normal times. This creates space for innovations despite the crisis. Ideally, the dynamics will also extend beyond the end of the crisis,” says Andreas Schumann, Chairman of BdKEP and initiator of the KEP Corona Situation Center.
