16. April 2020On June 1, Rhenus Freight plans to take over the forwarding business and real estate of L.W. Cretschmar at its location in Düsseldorf. The acquisition includes the customer and business relationships associated with the company as well as the employees in the forwarding, customs, and sales sectors.
(Düsseldorf) Rhenus Freight plans to take over the forwarding business and real estate of L.W. Cretschmar in Düsseldorf on June 1. The acquisition is subject to antitrust approval. With this purchase, the Rhenus Group aims to strengthen its market position in the Rhine-Ruhr region and ensure stability within the existing network.
“By taking over the Düsseldorf forwarding activities of the Cretschmar Group, we are expanding our market presence in the region and can further develop our service offerings for our customers. This also includes the chemical expertise of both companies, which we will combine,” says Thilo Streck, Managing Director of Rhenus Road in Germany.
The traditional family-owned company Cretschmar achieved a turnover of 103 million euros in 2018. Cretschmar is part of the cooperations System Alliance, Night Star Express, and Kombiverkehr. “It is our concern to sustainably ensure the supply security of the large medium-sized cooperations in the region,” says Thilo Streck.
The Cretschmar Group will retain its forwarding activities in Neuss, Leipzig, and Stuttgart under its current management and will continue to be active in the areas of contract logistics, night express, trade fair logistics, air, and sea freight at the Düsseldorf location.
“Our decision to sell is the result of the ongoing consolidation in the forwarding market. We are pleased to have found a buyer in the Rhenus Group who also offers our transitioning employees a good future perspective,” says Kay A. Espey, Managing Partner of L.W. Cretschmar. “After the sale of the Düsseldorf forwarding activities, we want to focus even more on expanding our other business activities, particularly contract logistics.”
