22. April 2020At the pakadoo Point: Employees of viastore, a provider of intralogistics systems and software, will soon be able to receive and return their private packages at the company headquarters. The interior designers from vierdrei have created a space for the shopping experience when online shopping.
(Böblingen) pakadoo solves the issue of receiving private packages for employees at viastore, a provider of intralogistics systems and software. The well-being of employees is of great importance to the viastore Group. With the renovation of the company headquarters in Stuttgart, Managing Director Philipp Hahn-Woernle wanted to introduce a very special service: His employees should also be able to receive and send private packages here in the future. He found a suitable partner for the implementation in pakadoo. The service provider enables the reception and return of private packages at the employer through its concept of “work-life-logistics” – regardless of the parcel service provider. With the help of a smart logistics app, incoming private packages are identified, scanned, and stored at a so-called pakadoo point – either directly in the mailroom or, as in the case of viastore, in a parcel locker. The recipient is automatically informed via email or push notification that a package is ready for them to pick up. Returns can also be dropped off at the pakadoo points or stored in the parcel lockers.
A Place of Deceleration
Hahn-Woehrle wanted to further optimize this service and asked the interior design team – interior designer Marisa Dickau from the office vierdrei in collaboration with Werkkollektiv – to integrate the viastore pakadoo point into the overall architecture. The result is a room in minimalist design with clear lines and natural colors. “As a counterpoint to the constant availability and consumer frenzy that one is exposed to in everyday life, we wanted to consciously create a place of deceleration, whose high-quality furnishings convey our sense of responsibility,” emphasizes Philipp Hahn-Woernle. The pakadoo point somewhat resembles a high-quality boutique: Here, employees can not only receive and return packages but also try on ordered clothing directly in the integrated fitting room. An additional storage space provides room for shipping materials. “With pakadoo, we have found an open and flexible project partner who has patiently supported us in developing this individual customer solution,” says Marisa Dickau.
Together for More Sustainability
Philipp Hahn-Woernle is also more than satisfied with the solution: “It saves our employees from long waits in parcel shops and is environmentally friendly, as the deliveries of employees arrive bundled with business packages at the headquarters.” This not only relieves traffic in the city but also reduces the fuel consumption of delivery vehicles and thus their CO2 emissions. Furthermore, pakadoo helps improve the sustainability balance of companies by eliminating multiple transport routes for parcel services and online shoppers. This aligns with viastore’s sustainability concept: “The smart logistics solution plays an important role in making our company a bit more sustainable.” Together with vierdrei, the company has also developed and implemented a waste separation concept, recycled whiteboard markers and reusable cleaning cloths are available in the meeting rooms, and ecological factors such as environmental certificates and CO2-reduced production in the region were considered when procuring new office furniture. Step by step, Philipp Hahn-Woernle wants to further expand the sustainability concept. This not only helps the environment but also ensures – as in the case of the pakadoo room – greater satisfaction among employees.
