27. April 2020The piece goods cooperation VTL Vernetzte-Transport-Logistik has launched the comprehensive future project VTL Next in the midst of the Corona crisis. In mid-April, 14 network partners met in a virtual space for the kick-off to jointly set the course for the realignment of the network.(Fulda, 27.04.2020) Even before the Corona crisis, the logistics industry was under enormous pressure: driver shortages, toll expansions and increases, as well as digital transformation posed significant challenges for many freight forwarders. “Now the situation has worsened further,” says VTL Managing Director Andreas Jäschke. Therefore, the launch of VTL Next came at exactly the right time for him. “We do not want to just react, but to shape our future on our own. The sooner we start, the better,” says Jäschke. The goal is to transform VTL into a more modern, even more attractive network with a wide range of logistics services.
“We are strong and solid and have a lot of know-how. We want to build on that and take the next steps into the future now,” says the VTL chief. To this end, the supervisory board and management have defined a series of measures. For example, future talents in the network are to be more involved in the development of future topics. Another core aspect of the realignment is digitization. Services are to be reviewed promptly, especially with regard to digital networking and new online solutions.
Additionally, it is about the future handling of partial shipments and optimized traffic management to organize more direct transports. “The participants of the kick-off event have formed five working groups to further advance the individual topics,” explains VTL project manager Fabienne Gaschler. By the latest at the “Transport Logistic 2021”, the results of the complete realignment are to be presented at a joint VTL partner stand.
