(Hamburg, 13.05.20) The new DAKOSY platform provides logistics providers with easy and flexible support for integrating bulk data into their customs processes. These processes are particularly labor-intensive in the small-scale eCommerce business and will become even more complex starting January 2021, when small shipments valued under 22 euros become subject to VAT. The potential time savings are enormous, as shipment data, which often includes more than 100 items, can now be uploaded automatically and no longer needs to be entered manually.
Simon Lembke, Head of Customs Applications at DAKOSY, describes the new development with enthusiasm: “We provide our customers with a digital tool that allows them to accelerate their processes interactively and effortlessly. For any customs declaration, such as a declaration for free circulation, we provide a profile that defines which fields need to be filled with which information. Once the customer has uploaded their shipment data – usually in the form of an Excel list – they specify which column corresponds to which field in the profile and save the template. Now, with a single click, they can create the customs declaration including all items and subsequently correct and supplement it in their customs software ZODIAK GE. Of course, they can reuse the template at any time.”
The DAKOSY developers have placed great emphasis on user-friendly handling of the platform, thereby preserving a high degree of independence for customers. “Each customer independently creates their templates, can correct them, and use them as often as they like for similarly structured order data and customer situations.”
Even today, the eCommerce business is growing rapidly, and the demand for the new platform is high. For next year, when all goods from third countries will be subject to VAT from the first euro, Lembke anticipates a significant increase in demand for the innovative solution, as it also enables the submission to the new ATLAS procedure ATLAS-IMPOST (import processing of postal and courier shipments) without any additional effort. He therefore recommends all interested customers and logistics providers to contact DAKOSY early and test the platform.
