(Bad Nauheim) Sonepar is advancing the comprehensive optimization of IT-supported logistics processes at several locations. In collaboration with the logistics software specialist inconso, the major project for the implementation of a holistic logistics solution continues, which affects all processes from warehouse management to end customer delivery. The electrical wholesaler relies on inconsoWMS for warehouse management, inconsoTMS for transport management, and inconsoPOD for digital proof of delivery on the last mile across locations. With inconsoDOM (Distributed Order Management System), the cross-location distribution of goods to individual regional and central warehouses is optimized, through which Sonepar will create a uniform software landscape for handling all logistical processes in the future.
With a range of large electrical appliances, cables, fans, connection and insulating materials, light sources, and small electrical devices, Sonepar Germany operates nearly 300 branches, six central warehouses, and over 80 transit points. The product range includes around 100,000 stocked items. Each of the large warehouses distributed throughout Germany offers over 40,000 products, with product availability usually guaranteed within 24 hours.
“The solutions from inconso have particularly convinced us due to the possibilities that arise from a seamless process execution to cover all processes from the warehouse to the customer. The business processes specifically developed at Sonepar are also mapped within a standardized approach and support the logistics staff and second-stage delivery through a fully integrated web solution. For us, the implementation forms the foundation for further digitization, which we can build on in the coming months and years based on the uniform and integrated solution,” explains Mark Michaelis, Managing Director at Sonepar Deutschland Information Services GmbH.
With system implementations already completed at the locations of Essen and Holzwickede, the major project has been progressing since 2018 with corresponding go-lives. The collaboration with inconso is currently being continued at other German locations, such as Langweid am Lech and Hof (Bavaria). In particular, inconsoDOM allows for cross-location network control and an overarching view of stocks at the locations and in transit, as well as on availabilities and utilizations in the warehouse and transport environment.
To establish seamless shipment tracking (Track & Trace) along the entire transport and delivery chain, Sonepar relies on inconsoPOD (Proof of Delivery). The cloud solution enables drivers to conveniently transmit all delivery activities via an app. In real-time, the data from inconsoTMS is also available for continuous inventory management in inconsoWMS, allowing the electrical wholesaler to gain a detailed view of all goods movements.
