8. June 2020Last week, additional sanitary containers for professional drivers were installed in the service park of GVZ Bremen. While this may not seem like a topic for a press release, the COVID-19 lockdown highlighted the lack of sanitary facilities for drivers across Europe. Often, companies denied access to their own facilities at loading and unloading points!
(Bremen) Last week, as part of the industry initiative #LogistikHilft, additional sanitary containers for truck drivers were put into operation in the service park of GVZ Bremen. The installation of the shower and toilet containers was organized in collaboration with the industry initiative, the GVZ Development Company Bremen (GVZe), and Backhaus. The rental costs for the sanitary containers are covered by donations, including from the city of Bremen, the Bremen Road Traffic Cooperative (SVG), the Bremen Transport Association (LVB) e.V., and supporters of the initiative. Approximately 6,000-7,000 trucks are handled daily at GVZ Bremen. The newly installed sanitary facility complements the existing offerings and can be found on the premises of the central GVZ supplier Backhaus in the service park of GVZ Bremen. The two containers have been available free of charge to all truck drivers since June 4, 2020. Access is via the KRAVAG Truck Parking App, available in the Google Play Store / Apple App Store. #Logistikhilft is a joint initiative of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI), the Federal Association of Goods Transport, Logistics, and Disposal (BGL), the non-profit organization DocStop / SaniStop, and many supporters/donors from the logistics industry and related sectors. The initiative is patronized by Federal Minister Andreas Scheuer and the Federal Government’s Coordinator for Goods Transport and Logistics, Parliamentary State Secretary Steffen Bilger. The goal of the initiative is to support all those operationally active in transport and logistics, thereby ensuring the supply of society and the economy. This is particularly important with regard to fair and appropriate working conditions for truck drivers.
