(Berlin/Paris) sennder, Europe’s pioneer in digital road freight transport, announced its merger with the French freight technology company Everoad. The strategic acquisition between the two largest digital freight forwarders in Europe lays the foundation for building the most important and comprehensive digital transport service platform in Europe. sennder and “Everoad by sennder” aim to facilitate the relationship between shippers and freight forwarders and connect small freight companies with large trading corporations through proprietary technology. The two digital logistics companies also want to support the image of freight logistics through their sustainable business model and actively contribute to reducing CO2 emissions.
Further Step in Growth Strategy
Since its founding in 2015, sennder’s mission has been to revolutionize and future-proof the logistics and transport industry. The merger with the French counterpart Everoad is another strategic step to successfully continue sennder’s geographical growth trajectory. Today, the digital freight forwarder is already present at all major logistics and transport hubs in Europe.
Monthly, they handle more than 35,000 shipments and have a team of 350 employees with sennder and the newly established company “Everoad by sennder”, as well as an extensive network of over 10,000 freight partners and large corporate clients. Since its founding, the Berlin-based company sennder and “Everoad by sennder” have raised over 120 million euros in capital from leading investors
Sustainable Profitability Increase
The road freight market in Europe has a volume of nearly 400 billion euros. sennder and “Everoad by sennder” plan to achieve an annual revenue of one billion euros by 2024. To reach this ambitious goal, the digital transport service providers are pooling their technology and expertise to optimize all contact points in the supply chain.
Trucks account for six percent of the total CO2 emissions in the European Union. Therefore, sennder and “Everoad by sennder” will play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions in this sector, starting with the reduction of “empty kilometers” (20 percent of total kilometers driven). To meet this challenge, sennder and “Everoad by sennder” use tech algorithms based on machine learning. Capacity allocations can thus be optimized, and environmentally friendly services, such as emission compensation through strategic partnerships and cooperation, can be offered to freight forwarders and shippers.
David Nothacker, CEO and Co-Founder of sennder: “With Everoad, we share vision, DNA, and common goals. In the midst of the international crisis caused by COVID-19, road freight has proven its irreplaceable, strategic role in transporting vital goods. Now is the right time to pool resources and forces and integrate Everoad into sennder GmbH. This way, we can jointly provide our expertise to tackle the new challenges and opportunities arising from the crisis.”
Maxime Legardez, CEO and Founder of Everoad: “We share the same goal: We want to be leaders in the European forwarding and logistics industry. By merging with sennder, we achieve this goal and can contribute to a sustainable and more environmentally friendly industry. As “Everoad by sennder”, we share our expertise and experience, which we have built over the last four years with a pan-European vision.”
