16. June 2020Payment Morale Poses a Liquidity Stress Test in Times of Crisis
16. June 2020Five associations from the German logistics service industry are calling for fairness in dealings on the freight transport market in a joint appeal. At the same time, the associations thank their members for ensuring supply during the Corona pandemic.
(Berlin) The German logistics industry has kept its promise from the Freight Transport Pact for Germany. The supply security for the economy and society was consistently ensured during the critically challenging time of the Corona crisis, and the supply chains held up. Therefore, the associations of the Freight Transport Pact thank all companies and their employees for their outstanding performance during this time! They also thank the federal government for its unbureaucratic assistance and flexible handling of all exceptions.
Now it is important to sustainably shape the slow recovery. This includes treating each other fairly and in solidarity during the time of oversupply of transport capacities. The best guarantee for fair competition is adherence to competition law. To successfully cope with the current challenges of the upcoming revival of our economy as well as possible new crises, all market participants in the freight transport market must be able to trust in the adherence to and state control of market rules.
The associations of the German forwarding, transport, and logistics industry AMÖ, BIEK, BGL, BWVL, and DSLV therefore declare:
Fairness Comes First!
A fair interaction on the freight transport market in Germany is characterized by adherence to competition law. To sustainably protect the market and maintain the performance of the entire logistics sector, the signatories commit to fair cooperation, call on all market participants to always be guided by this principle, and appeal to the supervisory authorities to fulfill their obligation to uphold and strengthen the competitive market. This way, we will continue to maintain supply security in the future.
