Safe Storage of Chemical Products
Baden-Württemberg ranks among the top 5 German states in terms of revenue in the chemical industry. Accordingly, logistics companies that are reliable partners for the transport and safe storage of chemical products and hazardous materials are in high demand. The Dachser logistics center in Karlsruhe has grown with its customers and has developed into an important hub for the logistics of chemical products within the European network of the globally operating logistics service provider. Another location advantage is the very good connection to France, the number one export country for the German chemical industry. “The constantly growing demand from the chemical industry made the new building urgently necessary,” comments Bernd Großmann, branch manager of Dachser Malsch. Construction work for the new hazardous materials warehouse began in spring 2018, and by February 2019, the first customers were gradually able to move in. With the official launch a few weeks ago, all work is now complete. The hazardous materials warehouse is operational with all transport, storage, and logistics services and is connected to the dense European Dachser network via daily direct lines.
Expertise for the Chemical Industry
The new hazardous materials warehouse offers 21,800 square meters of space for 43,000 pallets. It is divided into nine sections, which are separated by fire walls and equipped with an automatically activated extinguishing system with ceiling and additional rack sprinkler systems. The hall floors are lowered and specifically designed for product and extinguishing water retention. Furthermore, barriers at the inlets to the sewage system ensure increased protection of groundwater. Dachser is experienced in handling hazardous materials and offers Dachser Chem-Logistics, a global industry solution specifically tailored to the unique logistics requirements of the chemical industry. The logistics service provider adheres to the highest safety standards. For example, there is a central hazardous materials management team for transport and 226 regional hazardous materials officers.
