22. June 2020The board of the Association of Goods Transport, Logistics and Disposal (VGL) e.V. Schleswig-Holstein has decided to intensify cooperation with the Federal Association of Goods Transport, Logistics and Disposal (BGL) e.V. and to rejoin the BGL.
(Neumünster/Frankfurt am Main) Several steps are planned, culminating in a member resolution that aims for full membership in the BGL starting from 01.01.2022. The VGL had left the federal association in 2014 and has since been active independently in the industry.
From now on, VGL member companies have the opportunity to utilize the BGL’s portfolio again: influence on political work in Berlin and Brussels, participation in committees and working groups, access to the BGL benefits world including the new Brummi-Card, as well as the internal communication system “MyBGL” and all further information.
Projects from Schleswig-Holstein will also flow into the work of the BGL committees and can be utilized by member companies.
Positive Development at the BGL
Dr. Thomas Rackow, Managing Director VGL: “In recent years, we have closely monitored the developments of the BGL and have seen that the BGL has turned things around and is now on the right course. It has become a true service association for its members. We can now also contribute our projects, such as our database for exchanging services within the member area, the image campaign, and our skilled worker concept.”
Peter Boyens, Board Member: “Many of the proposals we have made in the past have been addressed and largely implemented, particularly regarding the contribution structure. Significant progress has also been made in restructuring the BGL organization from a presidency to a supervisory board and executive board. Together with personnel savings while simultaneously expanding the service offerings, the BGL has consolidated and is overall on a good path into the future.
However, there are still open points, such as the closer integration of associations into a ‘umbrella organization of logistics’ in Germany. While maintaining our own identity, we will observe the development of the BGL in a ‘staged concept’. Subsequently, a general meeting will have to decide on membership.
Prof. Dr. Dirk Engelhardt, Spokesman of the BGL Board: “We are very pleased to welcome the VGL back into the BGL family. This means we are strongly represented from southern Germany to the far north and can pool our strengths in the interest of our members – thus benefiting both VGL and BGL equally.”
