It is also clear that revenues in the gastro and hospitality sectors have collapsed due to Corona, and the future is uncertain.
(Zurich) The Migros Group plans to sell its subsidiary Saviva, which operates nationwide in the gastro wholesale delivery market with the business areas of Food Services and Logistic Services. The sale is part of the further focus of the Migros Group’s strategic business areas on customer-oriented offerings.
With the sale of the subsidiary Saviva, the Migros Group aims to further strengthen its strategic focus on its core business. The past months have made it clear that gastronomy remains an extremely challenging business field. This market development reinforced Migros’ decision to initiate the sales process for Saviva and to transfer the company to new owners in the gastro wholesale delivery market. Various options are being examined, and the details are being worked out.
Strong Position in a Challenging Environment
Migros has further developed Saviva in recent years in a demanding market environment, positioning the company well and preparing it for the future. In the past year, in addition to the main location in Regensdorf, over ten regional logistics platforms were established nationwide to ensure that customers can be supplied within 24 hours throughout Switzerland. Furthermore, Saviva has invested in a new digital marketplace, which will be launched later this year.
With the planned sale of Saviva, Migros continues its existing strategy. It is increasingly investing in customer-oriented offerings in its core business, in the convenience segment, on digital sales channels, and in the health sector. Migros will provide further information as soon as the sales process has been completed.
