6. July 2020The parcel service provider GLS launches a new version of its smartphone app for sending and receiving packages. This can be used without registration and offers contactless receipt as well as, for example, contactless payment when shipping.
(Neuenstein) GLS Germany offers a new version of their smartphone app for fully mobile package receipt and shipping, which can be used without registration. Senders can pay directly on the device.
Creating a GLS shipping label on the smartphone, paying with PayPal, credit card, or SEPA direct debit, and having the label scanned as a QR code on the device at the GLS ParcelShop – the new GLS app enables fast, paperless, and cashless package shipping. Additionally, it finds the nearest GLS ParcelShop and navigates the user there if desired.
With the clear shipment tracking, both senders and recipients can keep an eye on the package at any time on their mobile devices. Recipients can also grant a delivery authorization for their package with just a few clicks – for a safe, contactless delivery.
Use with and without Registration
All these features can be used in the very compact application, which is under 2 MB, without registration. Those who register can also grant a general delivery authorization, keep an overview of incoming and outgoing packages under “My Packages,” and create an address book. Access to the login area of the online shipping portal GLS-ONE is also possible through the user account. The data is automatically synchronized.
The GLS app is a proprietary redevelopment that replaces the previous version introduced in 2017. The development focused on providing the optimal customer experience, with key points being user-friendliness and accessibility. Also important: the technical capability to adjust the app quickly and respond to user feedback.
“We want to provide a constantly up-to-date and user-friendly access to our services for mobile consumers with the GLS app – customer feedback is the most valuable source for this,” says Dr. Karl Pfaff, Chairman of the Management Board of GLS Germany.
The app is available for Apple smartphones from iOS 12 and for Android smartphones from Android 7 in the respective stores.
