8. July 2020With GDP Network Solutions, a new network for pharmaceutical logistics is emerging in Germany. Ten medium-sized pharmaceutical logistics companies have joined forces in this network and operate a HUB in Kassel together. The company is based in Biebesheim am Rhein.
(Biebesheim am Rhein) The core business of the new nationwide GDP network focuses on temperature-controlled freight transport – from parcels to pallets. The idea of a pharmaceutical network was born in 2019, and in 2020, the cooperating logistics companies implemented the concept with their market entry.
The participating companies cover all regions in Germany with a hub as a transshipment point in Kassel. A modern fleet is in use, meaning: environmentally friendly engines, state-of-the-art telematics, and planning tools.
GDP Network Solutions operates with the goal of generating the highest level of customer satisfaction. Personal contacts on-site are therefore a matter of course for the network. This maxim is represented by the medium-sized owner-managed logistics specialists of GDP Network Solutions with around 2,675 employees, more than 1,000 vehicles, and total sales of over 500 million euros, of which the pharmaceutical logistics sector accounts for about 20 percent.
From Pharmaceutical Specialist to Joint Pharmaceutical Network
The vision: A comprehensive pharmaceutical freight network that transports pallet and parcel shipments according to “Good Distribution Practice,” GDP guidelines. To realize this, several medium-sized logistics companies joined forces at the beginning of 2019. Together, they set the course, defined the core principles for the
cooperation, and installed a nationwide network structure. This was the birth of the GDP Network Solutions brand.
The pharmaceutical logisticians place a special focus on quality, safety, hygiene, and customer requirements. To create the basis for reliable cooperation, the processes of the network were qualified. In addition, the cooperation established cross-partner quality controls and conducts them continuously to meet the demands for standardized and transparent processes. The new network offers all services related to pharmaceutical logistics. The management is taken over by Jürgen Oetzel.
