DB Schenker with Smart Picking Glasses for Clarity in Warehouse Logistics
14. July 2020KTV Logistics Company Celebrates 30 Years of Existence
14. July 2020The Emons Group celebrated two groundbreaking ceremonies, as new logistics facilities are being built in the Gengenbach Kinzigpark (Black Forest) and in Thurnau (Upper Franconia), with completion scheduled for March 2021. The investment amount for both projects is 26 million.
(Gengenbach/Thurnau) After the earthworks in the new industrial area Kinzigpark have been clearly visible for weeks, the official groundbreaking has now taken place. Under bright sunshine, Ralf Wieland (CEO Emons), Markus Oehlke (Branch Manager Freiburg and Karlsruhe), and Thomas Fritz (Logistics Manager Schutterwald) celebrated the next step towards the modern logistics facility. On the 3.3-hectare site, 10,000 m² of logistics space plus 600 m² of administration will be created. The sustainable new logistics location is expected to be completed in March 2021, after which the move from the current logistics warehouse in Schutterwald will take place. Approximately 50 employees will perform logistics services of all kinds in the state-of-the-art halls, which are 13 to 14 meters high. The new location will be conveniently located directly on the B33 with access to the A5 southeast of Offenburg.
The property offers enough space for an expansion hall of 5,000 m². The remaining 15,000 m² are designated as traffic and green areas. Tree groups will also be planted.
New logistics center also in Thurnau
With the symbolic groundbreaking on July 10, 2020, construction work for the new logistics center in Thurnau has begun. Emons is investing €16 million in its new flagship of Emons real estate. On the 3.5-hectare site, we are building a hall complex with 16,000 m² of logistics space and 700 m² of office space. 16 gates and a ground-level access will be available for delivery and distribution. The 14-meter high halls are designed for 20,000 storage spaces in high racks and are equipped with a block storage plus a mezzanine. This second level for assembly work is 2,000 m² in size.
Air-conditioned and ecological
The air-conditioned logistics facility will be powered by ecological energy sources. With a photovoltaic system and an air heat pump, Emons meets its own sustainable and environmentally friendly claims. This is supported by generous green spaces and the planting of trees. With the comfortable working environment and technical equipment according to the latest standards, Emons sets new benchmarks for the 50 employees. Thus, Emons will also be an attractive employer with growth potential in the Thurnau region, alongside the Himmelkron location with its 6,000 m² piece goods transshipment facility.
The choice of location was influenced by the local proximity to a major customer as well as the attractive conditions offered by the municipality of Thurnau. The logistics warehouse is expected to be completed in March 2021, with the move from the current location in Bad Berneck. The new building will provide space for existing customers as well as for new business in the areas of warehousing, order picking, packaging, and other logistical value-added services. A 4K video system supports the high security standard. The location will function as a customs warehouse with AEO-F status.
