(Prague/Munich) The Czech startup BattSwap has appointed Wolfgang Lehmacher (photo) to its advisory board. This enables the long-time logistics expert to specifically support a technical innovation that can make logistics and transport more sustainable. “Electric vehicles only have a future if they can be used profitably and efficiently. This requires adequate range as well as continuous availability of the vehicles,” Lehmacher sees the market for electric vehicles.
Founded in 2015 by Radek Janku, the Czech startup BattSwap has developed an innovative technology that allows batteries of electric cars to be swapped within one minute. Fleet operators can thus opt for commercial vehicles with smaller batteries that are cheaper to purchase. At the same time, expensive vehicle downtime is eliminated, as the batteries are charged outside the vehicle.
Reducing Long Battery Charging Times
“No transporter can afford long battery charging times,” says Lehmacher. “BattSwap addresses this issue and offers a cost-effective, well-thought-out solution. That’s why I am convinced of the successful future of the startup.” Wolfgang Lehmacher, born in 1960, is a logistics expert and advises various stakeholders across the industry, from startups to Fortune 50 companies. As a business angel, he also strategically invests in sustainable startups like BattSwap.
Throughout his career, Lehmacher has held numerous senior positions in the forwarding, express, postal, and service industries, including as director, head of the supply chain and transport sector at the World Economic Forum in Geneva and New York. Other stations in his career include positions as president and CEO of GeoPost Intercontinental and board member at GeoPost, the express parcel holding of Groupe la Poste.
