30. July 2020Güttler Logistics GmbH expands its fleet with four new city semi-trailers. The self-steering rear axle makes the trailers agile and flexible for urban traffic. For Güttler, this is a unique selling point in the Hof (Saale) region. It also makes the daily work of the drivers easier.
(Hof/Saale) Güttler Logistics GmbH has deployed four new city semi-trailers. With this, the logistics specialist from Hof responds to the special requirements of urban delivery traffic. The new trailers are extremely agile thanks to their steered rear axle, making them ideally suited for distribution in tight spaces. By acquiring the city semi-trailers, Güttler not only distinguishes itself from the offerings of regional competitors but also eases the daily work of its drivers.
“Driving through the city center is always a challenge for drivers. Deliveries through numerous intersections, turns, and narrow streets not only cause stress but also tire wear, leading to increased diesel consumption,” says Johannes Reuther, Managing Director of Güttler Logistics GmbH.
Agile in Urban Traffic
With the four city semi-trailers, the logistics expert has now provided a solution. Thanks to the new vehicles, Güttler’s drivers can now maneuver effortlessly through the urban road network. The trailers, specially designed for the challenges of inner-city transport, can be hitched to any conventional tractor unit that has a loading connection for a lift platform. This allows them to function like a regular distribution vehicle with a through-loading trailer, but with the advantage of no longer needing to hitch and unhitch and always having a lift platform available. In terms of weight distribution on the loading area, the city semi-trailers also outperform conventional delivery vehicles with trailers. With approximately 11 meters of loading length and 2.5 meters of interior height, 13 tons of cargo can be loaded either via the lift platform at the portal or through a side curtain. “With these vehicle combinations, we can represent up to 20 delivery and around five pickup stops in the future,” says Reuther. The trailers are mainly on the road in the Hof (Saale), Plauen, and Bayreuth areas. “In our distribution area, we are pioneers in the use of city semi-trailers. Hardly any of our competitors offer their drivers such an advantage in urban delivery,” says Reuther.
