(PressBox, Berlin) Ralf Wieland, CEO of Emons, has been appointed as a Senator in the International Economic Senate e.V. (IWS). With this, the IWS gains a knowledgeable member from the field of international freight forwarding, especially in light of increasing globalization.
New senators do not join but are appointed to the independent expert network. The IWS has selected Ralf Wieland due to his expertise in the international transport industry and his affinity for innovation and digitalization.
The IWS acts as a link between business and science. The focus is on influencing German and European politics in a non-partisan manner with impulses for the common good. The Senate represents the medium-sized enterprises – the success factor of the German economy. 99% of German companies belong to the medium-sized sector, which provides 60% of jobs and over 80% of training positions. The IWS operates with the values of the “honorable merchant.” It stands for sustainability, social responsibility, ethics, and morality. Education, promotion of young talent, and international orientation are the pillars of the IWS.
Wieland is an Optimal Addition
“Globalization does not take place on paper,” says Secretary General Peter Nußbaum, who founded the IWS in 2013. Outstanding personalities from business, politics, and science are united in the network across various sectors. Wieland, a pronounced expert in the freight forwarding industry, optimally strengthens the network. Since 2017, Ralf Wieland has been leading the Emons companies as the spokesperson for management. Emons offers – with over 100 locations – transport by road and rail, air and sea, as well as logistics solutions. 3,117 employees ensure smooth global goods transport. Emons maintains its own companies in 18 countries.
“Being part of the IWS now as an economic senator is a great honor for me and a challenge to strengthen the influence of freight transport, which is one of the highest-grossing sectors in Germany but is often overlooked,” emphasizes Wieland.
