4. August 2020trans-o-flex ThermoMed Austria sets a new quality standard and invests two million euros in 34 new two-chamber delivery vehicles. The trucks meet GDP and ATP standards for the transport of pharmaceuticals and food. For the first time, the company combines a Mercedes Benz chassis with a specialized body from Spier.
(Weinheim) The trans-o-flex ThermoMed Austria, specialized in actively temperature-controlled pharmaceutical transports in the temperature ranges of cool (2 to 8 degrees) and ambient (15 to 25 degrees), is investing around two million euros in a new generation of delivery vehicles. With the procurement of 34 vehicles, the company is renewing almost half of its transport fleet and aims to set a new quality standard. “For the first time in Austria, we have opted for a combination of a Mercedes-Benz chassis with a body from the specialist Spier,” says Wolfgang P. Albeck, Chairman of the trans-o-flex management. “The Euro 6 diesel engines operate quieter and cleaner than their predecessors, and the body provides our customers with even more security regarding compliance with the required temperature range in pharmaceutical transport in Austria.”
Two-Chamber Vehicles
The two-chamber vehicles, which transport goods at a temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius in one part of the cargo space and at 15 to 25 degrees Celsius in the other, are certified according to the GDP standard for the transport of pharmaceutical products. At the same time, trans-o-flex ThermoMed has placed emphasis on obtaining ATP certification. “The ATP certificate indicates suitability for food transport,” explains Albeck. “Although we do not transport food, it is a quality feature of how well different temperatures can be maintained in the cargo space. The performance of the multi-chamber cooling unit and the insulation of the body are so high that we could also take on transports in the deep-freeze range.”
