2. September 2020Sievert Logistics SE joins forces with seven other logistics companies in the LogCoop forklift network. This is a nationwide cooperation in Germany for the transport of bulky goods, guaranteeing efficient delivery to the end customer right at the place of use.
(Lengerich) Sievert Logistics SE has been part of the B2B/B2C forklift network of LogCoop GmbH since June of this year. Through this cooperation, the logistics provider responds to the changing purchasing behavior of end consumers, who increasingly order unwieldy goods for delivery right to their doorstep. Sievert will now handle the transport of long pipes, bulky fence parts, or large playground equipment with seven partner companies through a shared hub-and-spoke system. The network has 450 trucks, including forklifts, and 20,000 square meters of warehouse space at a total of 10 locations in Germany. Customers of the logistics service provider benefit from shorter delivery times and improved service quality.
“Through our commitment, we are addressing the changing flow of goods and can now offer our customers even more complex logistics solutions,” says Rui Macedo, CEO of Sievert Logistics SE. The logistics provider from Lengerich joined the B2B/B2C forklift network of LogCoop GmbH in June. According to Macedo, this decision is the result of a long-term development, as full load trucks are becoming less economical: “We have therefore been investing in forklift technology such as cranes or 4-way forklifts for years and are now taking another step.” This strengthens Sievert’s competitive position and is expected to generate new customer orders.
Central Hub near Erfurt
The core of the logistics cooperation is the strategically located central hub near Erfurt. Almost daily, shipments from the now eight member locations of the network head towards Thuringia, where they are transshipped or temporarily stored. On the return journey, each truck takes specific goods from the other partners back to its home region. “This allows us to avoid empty trips,” explains Macedo and adds: “We keep our customers informed about the status of their shipments through the network’s central track & trace system.” The piece goods, which can be up to 7 meters long and weigh 2.5 tons, are then transported to their respective place of use. For this purpose, the delivery vehicles are equipped with a forklift.
In the long term, Sievert aims to move away from focusing on the Eastern European market and to push further into the area of e-commerce fulfillment. The network provides a good basis for this. Additionally, membership leads to new partnerships. “We are creating solutions for the challenges of a constantly changing consumer society,” says the managing director. The exact effects cannot yet be quantified after two months, but initial inquiries are already on the table.
