10. September 2020Swiss Post is intensifying its efforts towards digitalization by acquiring a 50.1 percent majority stake in Klara Business AG. Klara assists Swiss SMEs with digital assistants to simplify administration, including an online shop solution and a sector-specific solution for retail.
(Bern) The Post aims to support Swiss SMEs more strongly in the future to digitalize and simplify administrative tasks. To this end, it is intensifying its collaboration with Klara Business AG: With a 50.1 percent stake, it takes the majority in the Lucerne-based company for digital services. This investment allows the Post to expand its digital business areas and advance the implementation of the growth strategy “Post of Tomorrow”.
Since May 2018, the Post has held a stake in Klara Business AG, based in Lucerne. The company is primarily known for its digital assistant KLARA, which helps Swiss SMEs and households simplify administration. KLARA fully automates administrative processes for SMEs and connects all business areas on a unified data basis. KLARA has been on the market since 2017. Now, the Post is increasing its share from nearly 9 percent to 50.1 percent, thus taking a majority of the shares. The Post is convinced of the collaboration with the Lucerne-based digital services company and aims to leverage the synergies of both partners through a joint venture.
The Post Invests in New Digital Communication Services
“In the growth strategy of ‘Post of Tomorrow’, the cooperation with Klara Business AG is another step. We are gradually making everyday life easier for companies and people in Switzerland, even in the digital world,” says Roberto Cirillo, CEO of the Post. The Post aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises in their digital transformation and thereby strengthen the Swiss economy further. To achieve this goal, the Post and Klara Business AG will offer new digital services. “Thanks to cloud-based solutions in the ecosystem, administrative processes are to be simplified, and the exchange of information with authorities and partner companies is to be made easier,” explains Peter Delfosse, Chairman of the Board of Klara Business AG.
