(Fulda/Hünfeld) The Fulda-based grocery retailer tegut… good food today signaled the start of the construction of the new tegut… logistics center in Hünfeld – Michelsrombach. The first groundbreaking took place on the approximately 23-hectare site in the Hessisches Kegelspiel logistics park near the A7.
tegut… prepares for the future
tegut… has continuously grown in recent years and is still on an expansion course. “With the logistics center in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach, tegut… is preparing for the future. We are developing and optimizing the existing infrastructure to supply the tegut… markets efficiently and reliably and creating additional capacities to secure the company’s growth,” explains Michael Egerer, tegut… Logistics/Supply Chain Management Executive. The company is investing an amount in the lower three-digit million range.
Automation technology supports future processes
“In the new logistics center in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach, over 800 employees will organize the management and delivery of approximately 17,000 different items on a building area of over 90,000 square meters,” reports Kathrin Wendt, tegut… Logistics Project Manager. Automation technology will additionally support future processes: The company SSI Schäfer from Giebelstadt will realize an automatic high-bay warehouse with approximately 38,000 pallet spaces and a container warehouse with approximately 85,000 container spaces for tegut…
Central location is ideal
In the coming months, the subsoil of the approximately 230,000 square meter property will be prepared for the construction. The slope of the property will be balanced using embankments and retaining structures. The hillside location of the property poses a construction challenge, but the central location in the tegut… catchment area directly at the federal motorway A7 and the size of the property are ideal for tegut…,” explains Michael Möller, tegut… Construction Project Manager.
Sustainability has been taken into account
During the construction period, approximately 570,000 tons of loose rock and approximately 480,000 tons of solid rock will be excavated and relocated on the construction site. Sustainability was taken into account in the planning, so that almost all soil masses on the construction site can be reused. The start of the superstructure is planned for spring 2021, with the final use intended for 2023. Early and cooperative collaboration with the city of Hünfeld, the building authority in Fulda, and other responsible authorities and offices ensured a smooth planning process with good results.
A gain for the city of Hünfeld and the region
Benjamin Tschesnok, Mayor of the city of Hünfeld, said at the groundbreaking of the tegut… new building: “This is a huge gain for our city, but the whole region benefits from the fact that existing jobs remain in the region and many new ones are created. I thank tegut… for placing great trust in the dynamics of the Hünfeld location. We have invested a lot of strength and work together in the development of this site. It is therefore all the more beautiful that we can now start together to reap the rewards.” Michael Hohenhaus, responsible project manager of the Tollé Planning Company mbH & Co. KG in Verden expressed his joy about the start of construction: “I am overjoyed that after a long and intensive planning process we can now start the realization of the project. We are excited and proud of the result we have achieved together.” Uwe Glück, authorized signatory of Bickhardt Bau AG, gave an outlook on the coming months: “We thank you for the award of the contract for the earthworks, deep and road construction as well as the engineering services.
