21. September 2020In just about 10 days, the new logistics fair Logistics Summit will start as an in-person event on October 1, 2020, in Hanover. The approximately 600 participants can look forward to an interesting and varied program. The safety of the around 30 exhibitors and participants due to the Corona pandemic is ensured through extensive protective measures.
(Hamburg/Hanover) The inaugural Logistics Summit is just around the corner. On October 1, 2020, it will take place. Like all events during the Corona period, it was uncertain for a long time whether the event could even take place. However, Thomas Promny, managing director of the organizer Velvet Ventures GmbH, has always believed in it. “To ensure a safety concept, we even changed the venue and moved from the Millerntor Stadium of FC St. Pauli in Hamburg to Hall 2 of the Hanover Fair. There we have ten times more space and can optimally implement the required safety measures. The Hanover Fair has been very accommodating in this regard.”
Such a change of venue shortly before the event date naturally brings a significant additional effort. However, Promny and his team could count on the speakers, exhibitors, and participants. On the large area in Hanover, sufficient distance can be maintained in all respects. Whether in the lecture rooms or during personal meetings, where partitions with plexiglass are also available. Additionally, there is an outdoor area where people can meet, weather permitting.
Personal Contacts Are Important and Irreplaceable
“Knowledge can also be conveyed through online meetings during Corona. But personal contacts are important and irreplaceable, which is why we have made every effort to hold the Logistics Summit as an in-person event. Many participants have welcomed this and are looking forward to it. However, there were also cancellations, which must be accepted,” Promny further explains.
All uncertainties due to Corona have now been resolved, and the event itself is to take center stage. Participants, mainly consisting of supply chain and logistics managers and decision-makers from industry and trade, as well as some representatives from logistics service providers, can look forward to an interesting and entertaining program with plenty of room for nurturing personal contacts.
Diverse Program with Renowned Speakers
Promny adds: “We have succeeded in putting together a diverse program with renowned speakers from equally renowned companies. The focus is on digitization. We have also invited 12 startups to present themselves, among which the ‘Logistics Summit Startup Award’ will be awarded, determined by the participants.”
For Velvet Ventures GmbH, this is the first event in the logistics industry. However, with the Procurement Summit, which will take place for the third time this year on September 23 and 24, 2020, experience has been gained in a similar environment. “In many cases, logistics and procurement are closely linked, so it was obvious to also offer an event for logistics,” explains Promny.
The Logistics Summit will take place annually, thus securing a fixed place in the calendar of logistics events. The second edition is planned for October 2021, again in Hamburg.
