30. September 2020Leadership change at the Port of Rotterdam; Boudewijn Siemons becomes the new COO of Havenbedrijf Rotterdam N.V., succeeding Ronald Paul. Siemons comes from Vopak and will also join the board. He starts his service today, October 1st.
(Rotterdam) As of October 1, 2020, Boudewijn Siemons (56) will be the new Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Havenbedrijf Rotterdam N.V. He will join the board, succeeding Ronald Paul.
Miriam Maes, Chair of the Supervisory Board: “The Supervisory Board is very pleased that Boudewijn Siemons will bring his extensive expertise and experience to the Port of Rotterdam. We trust him with the responsibility for the extensive infrastructure of the largest European port. This is an important task, as the infrastructure in our port industrial complex must remain world-class.”
Improving service through innovation and digitalization
Boudewijn Siemons: “The Port of Rotterdam has a state-of-the-art infrastructure that is utilized in various ways by customers. At Havenbedrijf Rotterdam, we strive to ensure that this infrastructure continues to improve through the optimal use of technological innovations and digitalization. I see it as both an honor and a challenge to be responsible for this important sector at the port and look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues and stakeholders.”
The mechanical engineer Boudewijn Siemons was recently the President of the Americas division at Koninklijke Vopak. After studying at the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Marine (Royal Institute for the Navy), he began his career in 1987 with the Royal Navy, where he served until 1998. From 1998 to 2006, Siemons held various management positions at Koninklijke VolkerWessels. In 2006, he joined Vopak, where he held management positions in Europe, the Middle East, and America.
As of October 1, 2020, the board consists of General Director Allard Castelein, CFO Vivienne de Leeuw, and COO Boudewijn Siemons.
