2. October 2020Logwin AG reports a successful truck transport from Dongguan/South China to Koblenz/Germany in 13 days. Bicycle parts were transported. The transport was carried out under high safety standards and was partially supervised personally by Logwin employees.
(Grevenmacher/Luxembourg), 11,000 km through China, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland to Germany. The 235 cartons with bicycle parts from a factory in Dongguan were on the road for 13 days, which Logwin transported by truck to Koblenz for the first time instead of by rail or sea freight. At the border to Kazakhstan, the goods were handed over from the Chinese forwarder to a Russian forwarder, who then drove them to Germany. Including the completion of all customs checks along the way and the final customs clearance at the destination customs office, they even stayed below the planned transport time of 14 days.
A Promising Pilot Project
Alexander Eckel, the branch manager coordinating the pilot project at Logwin, explains: “With this transport, we have opened a new chapter for our customers. Truck transport to and from China offers numerous advantages for customers. First, there is the shorter overall transport duration. Due to the shorter lead times compared to rail transport, we save about 7 days. Above all, however, we are providing a simplified option for transporting, for example, hazardous goods, which cannot be moved by ship or rail or can only be moved with great effort. Lithium-ion batteries are increasingly in demand in this context – whether for e-bikes or as supplies for the automotive industry.”
High Safety Standards
The “door to door” transport from China to Germany took place under high safety standards. The loading in the Dongguan region was personally supervised by employees of the Logwin branch in Guangzhou, the trucks used were occupied by two drivers throughout the journey and equipped with their own GPS tracking system. In Germany, the customs clearance and complete handover of the goods to the customer were accompanied by Logwin employees. In addition to proper customs clearance, special attention was paid to adequate insurance coverage for the transport carried out. This newly opened flexible transport route for Logwin customers now complements the currently still limited air freight and rail capacities.
