4. October 2020Four companies supported by startport recently won awards or ranked highly at various events. These companies are HEUREMO, gapcharge, ViSenSys, and ForkOn.
(Duisburg) A quadruple success for the Duisburg startup incubator startport: Four startups that have been supported by startport in recent years have now excelled at prestigious industry awards. The companies HEUREMO, gapcharge, ViSenSys, and ForkOn impressed the jury of the Telematics Award, the Digital Logistics Award, and the state competition “OUT OF THE BOX.NRW,” taking home a total of €40,000 in prize money. This once again demonstrates startport’s relevance for the industrial location of Duisburg and for innovative logistics solutions of tomorrow.
“We must have the courage in North Rhine-Westphalia to focus on new value creation. And this primarily arises from innovative networks! With startport, we attract young entrepreneurs who are unlocking new value chains in North Rhine-Westphalia. This makes our network in the region a driver of innovation and growth. We are very pleased that this has also been recognized by the jurors in the competition,” said Erich Staake, CEO of duisport.
Telematics Award
The special prize for “Best Project” went to HEUREMO in collaboration with Bohnen Logistik. The cooperation project between HEUREMO and the duisport subsidiary Bohnen Logistik GmbH & Co. KG was awarded. The medium-sized logistics company is considered HEUREMO’s first customer to integrate the dispatch optimization tool FreightPilot into their dispatching process.
Through the first real deployment, the collaborative work at eye level, and much practical input from the operational staff of Bohnen Logistik, previous difficulties and further restrictions in the dispatch process were identified.
Digital Logistics Award
First place goes to gapcharge. At the Dortmund Future Congress Logistics, the Duisburg startport startup gapcharge secured first place at the Digital Logistics Award in mid-September. In the final selection round, gapcharge prevailed in a pitch competition against seven other startups.
The company impressed the jury with its wireless, inductive charging system for electric logistics and light vehicles. In conjunction with digital condition monitoring, the system optimizes logistics processes and contributes to the infrastructure of the future.
Since January 2020, gapcharge has been supported in the startport accelerator program. The Digital Logistics Award, which has been awarded annually by the Digital Hub Logistics since 2017, is considered one of the largest awards for logistics startups in Germany and is endowed with €15,000.
State Competition “OUT OF THE BOX.NRW”: Awards for ViSenSys and ForkOn
The “OUT OF THE BOX.NRW” award from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia is a new competition for startups pursuing a digital business model. Here, the factors of creativity, degree of innovation, market potential, and team qualification were counted.
ViSenSys from Dortmund, a startport startup from the 2018 cohort (Batch#2), secured second place with a prize of €15,000. ViSenSys develops intelligent observation systems that can count passengers in public transport or be used for quality control in the manufacturing industry.
Third place and thus €10,000 went to ForkOn GmbH from Cologne, which was supported by startport until the summer of this year. ForkOn offers a cloud-based software solution for the central management and optimization of forklift fleets. Intelligent algorithms analyze the data of forklifts across manufacturers, create transparency, provide concrete recommendations for action, and thus optimize their use.
Awards Confirm startport’s Selection
The awards highlight the high quality of the startups as well as their significance for the logistics innovations of the future. And they show the startport team that it has once again demonstrated a good “nose” for startups with potential for success.
“We congratulate the teams of HEUREMO, gapcharge, ViSenSys, and ForkOn and are glad that we have been able to support these successful startups in our program,” says Peter Trapp, Managing Director of startport. “We are very pleased with the awards and they confirm what we have essentially known for years: Our startups are innovative and have what it takes to become very successful. We will continue to pursue this successful course together!”
