5. October 2020DHL Freight has received ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 certification from DEKRA for its integrated management system. The matrix certification confirms the highest standards in quality, environmental, and energy management. 335 branches and service partners are now matrix certified according to three ISO standards.
(Bonn) DHL Freight has successfully obtained confirmation of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 from the DEKRA certification body for its integrated management system. Currently, 335 branches in the fields of transport, logistics, and customs services are part of the certified management system. The matrix certification guarantees that the unified management system and processes at all DHL Freight locations and service partners worldwide meet the high standards of quality, environmental, and energy management.
“We are pleased with the confirmation of our efforts in sustainability and quality. The monitoring audits by DEKRA once again confirm that the projects we initiated as part of our 2025 strategy are bearing fruit. This also shows that economic success and sustainability are not in conflict but go hand in hand. Even in times of a global pandemic, we must not lose focus on quality and sustainability,” emphasizes Thomas Vogel, COO of DHL Freight.
Certification by DEKRA
The uniform implementation of quality, environmental, and energy management standards was examined by DEKRA, an independent certification provider that monitors and audits management systems in companies. 335 DHL Freight branches and service partners have been certified according to ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), and ISO 50001 (Energy Management).
“DHL Freight GmbH has once again demonstrated the successful certification of its management systems. The second monitoring audit of the quality, environmental, and energy management system was positively completed despite the pandemic situation. DHL Freight GmbH has been meeting these requirements at a high level for years, which it can rightly be proud of,” says Dr. Rolf Krökel, Managing Director of DEKRA Certification GmbH.
Expansion to ISO 45001 by 2021
By mid-2021, the matrix certification of all locations worldwide is to be expanded to include the ISO 45001 standard (Occupational Health and Safety Management). This will make the occupational health and safety management system, which has been globally established at DHL Freight and its service partners for years, part of the externally audited and certified processes. ISO 45001 is a standard published in 2018 that sets requirements and implementation guidelines for an occupational health and safety management system, thus replacing the British standard OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series).
Demonstrated Responsibility of Employees
“The successful execution of external, digital audits during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic proves our unrestricted ability to act in times of crisis as well as the outstanding willingness to perform of all functions and areas of DHL Freight. Our customers can rely on the fact that we at DHL Freight fully comply with the strict international quality, environmental, and energy guidelines as well as the requirements for occupational safety. The certification underscores the demonstrated sense of responsibility towards our employees and also shows that we are already setting standards for the future regarding digitization at DHL Freight,” explains Thomas Vogel, COO of DHL Freight.
