9. October 2020Lufthansa Cargo AG is making waves with the new special livery on one of its Boeing 777F aircraft. Lufthansa continues to support the charitable organization Cargo Human Care e.V., founded by Lufthansa employees in 2007, and raises awareness for the non-profit organization.
(Frankfurt am Main) Since the founding of the charitable organization Cargo Human Care e.V. by employees of Lufthansa Cargo 13 years ago, the cargo airline has been supporting the sustainable aid of the association in Kenya. In line with Lufthansa Cargo’s increased focus on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, this support has now been visually represented on the newest freighter in the fleet: In collaboration with Lufthansa Technik, the Boeing 777F with registration D-ALFI and the baptismal name “¡Buenos días México!” has been adorned with a special livery. In addition to the Cargo Human Care logo and the slogan “Step by step. Giving children a future,” portraits of Kenyan children living in the orphanage “Mothers’ Mercy Home,” operated by Cargo Human Care, also decorate the modern freighter. These portraits were created by Franka Doyen, a founding member of the aid project.
Renewed Commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainability Goals
“Social engagement has always been part of the DNA of Lufthansa Cargo. With the new designs on the freighter, we not only reaffirm our support for Cargo Human Care but also commit to the sustainability goal ‘No Poverty’ of the United Nations,” explains Lufthansa Cargo Operations Board Member Harald Gloy.
Fokko Doyen, the first chairman of Cargo Human Care and a pilot at Lufthansa Cargo, is also pleased with the new livery: “Cargo Human Care is not only close to my heart but also to many colleagues. That we now have a new ambassador carrying Cargo Human Care around the globe makes me very proud.”
MD-11F with Special Livery Now Decommissioned
Cargo Human Care e.V. was founded in 2007 by employees of Lufthansa Cargo and has since supported people in Kenya, providing them access to education and medical care. In addition to an orphanage, the association operates a medical center, two primary schools, a youth home, and a training workshop for leather processing in Kenya. In 2015, an MD-11F from Lufthansa Cargo with registration D-ALCH and also the baptismal name “¡Buenos días México!” was adorned with a special livery for Cargo Human Care. Following the decommissioning of the aircraft in March as part of the rollover to a more efficient freighter fleet, the newest “Triple Seven” in the fleet now takes on the task of carrying the mission of Cargo Human Care around the world. The first flight is already planned for this weekend with flight number LH8472 heading to Chennai.
