13. October 2020Uncertain Future Prospects for the Swiss Logistics Market
14. October 2020The German Logistics Congress, which was scheduled to take place in Berlin from Wednesday to Friday next week, will be switched to a purely digital format. The presidium, board, and management of BVL made this decision this morning in light of the worsening Corona situation.
(Bremen/Berlin) Out of responsibility for the health of all participants, the top bodies of BVL have now decided after intensive consultations to cancel the in-person event in Berlin. The majority of the congress content will be offered next week in a purely digital format, with additional parts to follow as webinars. The exhibition and networking events will be completely canceled.
“With the previously planned mix of analog and digital congress formats, we wanted to set a sign of courage and confidence and provide decision-makers in the logistics sector with a platform for personal exchange in this challenging year,” said Prof. Thomas Wimmer, the chairman of the BVL board. Until last weekend, the booking situation of BVL justified this, as it convinced with a comprehensive hygiene concept alongside the program. However, since then, it has seen uncertainty among participants, exhibitors, sponsors, and some service providers who were supposed to be involved in the congress.
BVL regrets cancellation
“The development of Corona is worrying many people. Thus, today we are faced with a completely different situation than in the summer when the BVL bodies decided to hold the congress from October 21 to 23, 2020, as a ‘hybrid’ event with a high on-site presence,” Wimmer said. The board and management of BVL deeply regret the cancellation of the in-person event. They thank all exhibitors, sponsors, and participants who had planned to attend in Berlin. BVL will promptly get in touch with all affected partners and clients directly.
