14. October 2020HARDER logistics GmbH & Co. KG is investing in a fully automated container storage facility on the outskirts of Neu-Ulm. The planned property has a capacity of up to 250 containers. In light of the ongoing growth in the container storage business, managing partner Marcello Danieli was keen to find an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution for capacity expansion.
(Neu-Ulm) The innovative and state-of-the-art container storage facility is being built on one of the last developed commercial plots in Neu-Ulm, in an excellent location with direct access to the A7 motorway and the B10 European road. The new building is a groundbreaking decision for the family business HARDER logistics, especially in times of the Corona pandemic. Danieli is consciously making a statement towards securing the future: “Right now, it is important to think long-term and to position our company well for the next generation. Environmental issues, sustainability, and expansion possibilities were of high priority in the selection of the site and the design of the hall.”
Especially efficient use of space
Significantly involved in the development of the property is Johannes Danieli, junior project manager at HARDER logistics. He provides insight: “The high-tech property can accommodate up to 250 containers on an area of 850 m². This means that only 10 percent of the previous area would be used for the boxes. Conventional storage would require 9,000 m² of space.” The junior’s conclusion: “Building upwards is a resource-saving and environmentally friendly alternative.”The approximately 19 m high hall is designed to stack 20-foot containers in six levels using an automated portal bridge crane controlled by lasers. Groundwork is expected to begin in early November of this year. The Danielis anticipate the completion of the container storage facility in early summer next year.
Process initiation can be triggered independently by the depositor
As a special highlight, Johannes Danieli plans to enable customers to have direct access to their containers around the clock. “This gives users flexibility and independence from opening hours,” he mentions the advantages. The 24/7 availability is to be technically implemented with an internet portal, through which the depositor can independently initiate the process. This way, they autonomously decide when the corresponding box is to be automatically provided in the lock.https://www.harder-logistics.comPhoto: © Harder logistics / Johannes Rauneker
