Oct 19, 2020 at 7:30 AMCoop Sverige AB, one of the leading grocery retailers in Sweden, has commissioned SSI Schäfer as the general contractor for intralogistics to implement a future-oriented, energy-efficient, and highly automated logistics solution for the new 77,000 m² distribution center in Eskilstuna, Sweden.
(Neunkirchen/Siegerland) – The new distribution center in central Sweden will supply more than 800 stores in the interior of the country with goods in the future. A large part of the material flow for both refrigerated and non-refrigerated products will be handled by two highly automated case picking solutions. Once completed, Coop’s new logistics center will achieve a throughput of more than 600,000 packaging units per day.
System enables store-specific pallet formation
SSI Schäfer relies on the 3D-MATRIX Solution® for the grocery retailer’s solution. The unique system allows Coop to achieve both its flexibility and efficiency goals while ensuring store-specific pallet formation. The sequenced provision of packages to case picking robots and workstations for single-item picking is managed by SSI Schäfer’s award-winning shuttle system. By integrating robotic solutions, Coop’s entire supply chain can be optimized – from the distribution center through transportation to the stores and ultimately to the end customers.
