(Ginsheim-Gustavsburg) – The international contract logistics provider ID Logistics has opened another high-performance e-commerce location in the Rhine-Main region. On October 6, 2020, the company launched its first sorting and distribution center in Germany for online retail of everyday goods in southern Hesse’s Ginsheim-Gustavsburg. For this, ID Logistics created all the necessary conditions for order processing within just ten weeks since the initial inquiry and in close coordination with the authorities in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg.
Above-average Growing E-Commerce in Germany
With the sorting and distribution center, the globally operating company expands its range of services for the currently above-average growing e-commerce in Germany, which stands at 13.3 percent in the third quarter*. Logistics centers have become a key figure in an increasingly complex supply chain and serve to supply citizens. ID Logistics operates logistics centers at various locations in Germany that specialize in efficient picking methods for shipping packages from online retailers to end consumers.
RLI Supports Property Search
For the establishment of the region-specific sorting and distribution center for e-commerce, ID Logistics utilizes an existing property of approximately 16,000 square meters, which was previously used by a company from the automotive sector. RLI Investors GmbH, an investment and asset manager specializing in logistics real estate from Munich, acquired the logistics property due to its high third-party usability and central location in the top logistics region of Rhine-Main for the open real estate special AIF “RLI Logistics Fund–Germany II” and developed it together with the tenant from the automotive site into an e-commerce distribution center.
CBRE Assists in Site Selection
Ginsheim-Gustavsburg is connected to the regional road network via the A60 (Mainz-Frankfurt) and A671 highways with access to A3, A5, and A61. The real estate consulting company CBRE was involved in advising and mediating the search for the suitable location. The site in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg enables ID Logistics to process up to 100,000 packages per day with up to 300 employees at peak times within six weeks after go-live in a three-shift operation from Monday to Saturday (24/6). The company invests over one million euros at the start for specific sorting technologies and a powerful IT system.
Good Cooperation with Authorities Leads to Quick Implementation
“Our new sorting and distribution center has been created in record time and is located in the middle of a well-connected industrial area. The property offers us many social spaces on one hand, and sufficient car spaces for our employees and truck spaces for servicing on the other. We thank the authorities in Ginsheim-Gustavsburg for their excellent support to be operational at this location in time for the Christmas business within just a few weeks and to create hundreds of new jobs in the region,” comments Robin Otto, Commercial Vice President at ID Logistics.
300 Jobs at the New Location
“We are very pleased as the city of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg about the establishment of ID Logistics. From the very beginning, we have been in very good communication with ID Logistics and are very happy that 300 jobs are to be created at the location. This means security and a stable income for around 300 families. Especially during the current Corona pandemic, it is not a given that companies settle and create new jobs. I wish the company a good start and look forward to close communication. Welcome to Ginsheim-Gustavsburg,” says Thies Puttnins-von Trotha, Mayor of Ginsheim-Gustavsburg.*Source: Consumer Study of the Federal Association of E-Commerce and Mail Order Germany (BEVH)www.id-logistics.comPhoto: © CBRE
