On November 19, Dematic AG will present its innovative e-commerce and omni-channel solutions during a virtual customer day. Special attention will be given to the pocket sorter, which is also used by the toy manufacturer Haba.
(Heusenstamm) – During an online live tour of the distribution center of HABA Group B.V. & Co. KG in Bad Rodach, participants will have the opportunity to see the functionality and benefits of the automation system. In the warehouse, the pocket sorter assists the toy manufacturer in quickly and efficiently processing e-commerce orders and makes returns available again in no time. Participants will gain customer insights into the project during a presentation by Torsten Kreußel, Head of Process Management, Production, and Logistics at HABA Group B.V. & Co. KG. Additionally, further best-practice applications and omni-channel solutions will be presented.

“Many trade fairs and large events are being canceled or postponed due to Corona. Therefore, it is even more important to develop virtual opportunities to inform and exchange ideas. That is why we are launching a series of virtual customer days, where we will present our innovative solutions in a special way,” explains Jessica Heinz, Head of Marketing and Business Development Dematic Central Europe. A professional film crew will produce live images from the distribution center of HABA Group B.V. & Co. KG in Bad Rodach for participants during the first online event. A space-saving pocket sorting system from Dematic is in use there. “This not only shortens the toy manufacturer’s order processing but also the access times for returned items. As a result, these are made available for shipping again within an hour.”

The automated hanging system on roller adapters stores and sorts both hanging and lying goods as well as flat-packed items and boxes in a single system. For the transport of goods, the system uses pockets that are space-savingly hung on rollers and run in an overhead rail. Various product shapes and sizes with a weight of up to three kilograms can be stored in the pockets. The intake of items occurs automatically, as does their emptying. This makes the system suitable for fully automated order processing for pure e-commerce as well as omni-channel retail. Furthermore, the technology offers the advantage of seamless integration into existing systems due to its modular design and variable chain length. This way, the pocket sorter can be compactly installed in almost any application environment. Potential expansions can already be considered before installation, allowing the capacity of the system to be easily increased later on.
