29. October 2020Starting in December, VTG AG will utilize new temperature sensors developed by Nexxiot. This allows for seamless monitoring of the condition of goods. A total of 3,000 freight cars will now be equipped with the new sensors to capture the necessary temperature data.
(Hamburg / Zurich) – VTG and Nexxiot are expanding their collaboration: Starting in December 2020, VTG will implement temperature sensors developed by Nexxiot to continuously monitor the condition of high-quality, temperature-sensitive goods and transmit information digitally and in real-time. For this purpose, 3,000 freight cars will be equipped with sensors at the request of customers, which can measure the temperature of the tank, the heating system, and the outlet. The collected data will be consolidated and processed in the Nexxiot Connect Cloud, with detailed evaluations and further analyses available to customers on the VTG platform traigo. In the event of temperature changes, transport participants will receive a notification through the system. This ensures that the transported goods reach their destination in perfect condition.
Ensuring Seamless Documentation
“Some products become unusable even after small temperature fluctuations. Therefore, we want to ensure seamless documentation for our customers when transporting high-quality chemicals or other temperature-sensitive goods. With the introduction of the Nexxiot solution, we are taking it a step further. By notifying about irregularities, measures can be initiated in real-time to counteract temperature fluctuations,” says Hanno Schell, Head of Innovation at VTG.
Product Quality Can Be Improved Through Measurement
Nexxiot’s CEO Stefan Kalmund sees great opportunities for quality assurance and transparency along international supply chains: “In many industries, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food, there are high demands for temperature monitoring of sensitive goods. We will support VTG in further enhancing the quality of transport in these areas. The use of real-time information and its integration into the daily work of customers plays an important role. The logistics industry needs innovative pioneers like VTG to meet the challenges of the future.” “The digitalization of our entire fleet is of great importance to us. Only through the generation, processing, and intelligent use of data can we provide our customers with the transparency they need to make informed decisions. Nexxiot supports us as a strategic partner,” adds Peter Töpfer, Senior Project Manager at VTG.www.nexxiot.com www.vtg.comImage: © Nexxiot
