2. November 2020Swisslog Holding AG expands its European business by completing solution concepts with system standards. In addition to its own system solutions, the focus will also be on the AutoStore concept. Increased personnel and innovative technology combinations enable quickly realized AutoStore complete solutions for customers – especially in e-commerce.
(Buchs / Dortmund) – Jens Schmale has been the Head of Swisslog AutoStore Europe since September 1, 2020. Schmale will further optimize and advance the European business of the Swiss intralogistics provider in the AutoStore sector. “We are very pleased to have gained Jens Schmale, a recognized intralogistics expert and specialist in the AutoStore field, for our team,” says Dr. Christian Baur, CEO of Swisslog. “With his expertise, he will further strengthen Swisslog’s market position as a leading AutoStore integrator with over 200 systems worldwide and actively promote our focus strategy with new impulses.”
Flexible and Future-Proof Solutions
Jens Schmale has extensive competencies in developing OEM-related sales, implementation, and service organizations. Before joining Swisslog, Schmale worked as the managing director of a locally operating AutoStore distributor and many years as sales manager in the industrial truck business. “I am very much looking forward to this exciting challenge,” says Jens Schmale. “The demand for flexible and future-proof logistics solutions is high. In this regard, we are excellently positioned with the uniquely configurable AutoStore system combined with Swisslog SynQ software. The development potential at Swisslog is correspondingly large. Taking on a new leadership role in a successful specialist team of consultants, system designers, and project managers is a tremendous motivation for me. It is particularly important to me to implement the simplicity that AutoStore embodies quickly, reliably, and with high quality into successful projects. This secures our customers the crucial competitive advantage in their market.”
Modular and Complete Solutions with Robotics
The aforementioned simplicity of AutoStore makes it possible to design various solutions with high economic efficiency: small systems as “stand alone” to large systems with over 100,000 containers – as part of an overall logistics or production facility. With Swisslog SynQ software, the systems are already prepared for possible expansions during planning. Thus, conveyor technology and the ItemPiQ picking robotics can later be integrated via SynQ. “A higher degree of standardization in the technology mix contributes to combinability and thus future viability,” explains Schmale. That Swisslog customers are convinced of the quality and advancement of AutoStore is demonstrated by a long list of references, including customers such as Brack.ch – an online retailer from Switzerland, ASDA – a supermarket chain from the UK, Varner – a clothing retailer from Norway, Weiling – a bio-retailer from Germany, and IMA – a packaging specialist from Italy, Rhenus Contract Logistics Netherlands, part of the Rhenus Group – a global logistics service provider.www.swisslog.comImage: Jens Schmale leads the European AutoStore business of Swisslog. – © Swisslog Holding AG
