4. November 2020The Arcese Group relies on new tractors powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The cutting-edge technology promises lower emissions, less noise, and thus a more efficient and environmentally friendly road freight transport.
(Ulm) – Thomas Hilse, IVECO Brand President, took the opportunity of an official visit to Matteo Arcese, Executive President of the Arcese Group at the new company location in Basiano and handed over 20 new LNG-powered IVECO S-WAY NP tractor units. Emanuele Arcese, Business Road Freight FTL Director of the group, Technical Director Carlo La Corte, and the Business Director of IVECO for the Italian market, Mihai Daderlat, were also present at the handover.
Costs are competitive
The vehicles ordered by the Arcese Group are a true novelty in connected, efficient freight transport thanks to their advanced technology and outstanding services combined with extremely competitive Total Costs of Ownership (TCO). IVECO’s industry-leading gas technology also makes the vehicles highly sustainable.
Matteo Arcese, Executive President of the Arcese Group on fleet expansion: “Sustainability has always played a major role for us. Our goal, as well as that of our customers, is emission reduction. The constant rejuvenation of our fleet and investments in vehicles that run on alternative fuels are just two examples of our steps in the right direction. We chose IVECO because we believe that the IVECO S-WAY, due to its performance, range, and reliability, is among the best LNG-powered tractors on the market and meets our requirements for long-distance heavy freight transport perfectly.”
Relationship of mutual trust
“We thank the Arcese Group for their continued trust in the IVECO brand. We appreciate the foresight of the company: Over the past years, it has developed into the productive, highly innovative group that we see today. IVECO has accompanied Arcese along much of the way. This has built a relationship of mutual trust and collaboration. We are honored to contribute to the sustainable growth of the Arcese fleet. For even more environmental protection, our state-of-the-art vehicles, technologies, services, and sustainability work seamlessly together,” says Thomas Hilse, Brand President at IVECO.
Operation with Bio-LNG planned
The delivered vehicles are equipped with a 460 hp Cursor 13 engine, a 12-speed Hi-Tronix transmission, GPS, and a 440-liter LNG tank on both sides. They feature predictive cruise control and the most advanced technology that significantly reduces fuel consumption and thus emissions. They are also designed for operation with Bio-LNG, a fuel produced from biomass. This makes them a perfect example of a circular economy with up to 95% CO2 reduction compared to a diesel-powered truck. The quiet operation, which reduces engine noise to as low as 71 dB(A), paves the way for nighttime urban operations. The unique feature – 1,600 km range when using 540-liter tanks – enables transport across Europe even over long distances. Furthermore, the IVECO S-WAY combines technology and design with an above-average driving experience for the benefit of drivers. An important technological advantage of the vehicles is the Connectivity Box. This keeps the vehicle in contact with specialists from the IVECO headquarters, who constantly monitor the vehicle. This enables efficient planning of maintenance and repair work and helps avoid unplanned stops. The Ecofleet, Driving Style Evaluation (DSE), and Driver Attention Support (DAS) systems further contribute to reducing Total Cost of Ownership and increasing safety.
Tractors in brand new colors from Arcese
The new IVECO S-WAY NP are also the first tractor units in the brand new colors of Arcese. This redesign emphasizes the brand’s identity, connects it with the history and values of the company, and looks to the future as the company promotes increasingly sustainable logistics and transport.
The customer service and workshop service is provided by the IVECO dealer Officine Brennero. It supports the customer from its four locations as well as with a network of workshops in the provinces of Trento, Verona, Mantua, Pordenone, Udine, Trieste, and Gorizia.
