6. November 2020Hellmann Worldwide Logistics extends its contract with Siemens AG and adjusts its capacities at the ctPark Bor industrial park accordingly. A digital warehouse optimization software is set to make material flows even more efficient using artificial intelligence.
(Osnabrück) – The globally operating full-service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and Siemens AG are further expanding their collaboration in contract logistics, which has been in place since 2013: Starting in November, Hellmann will manage around 26,000 active items for the Electrical Products division at Siemens Smart Infrastructure in Bor, Czech Republic – from warehouse management to order picking and packaging to worldwide shipping. This corresponds to an expansion of the contract volume by about 50 percent. Siemens is thus entrusting another part of its own warehousing to Hellmann’s expertise.
AI for Optimizing Processes
To accommodate the additional volume, the Hellmann location in the ctPark Bor industrial park will be expanded by renting an additional 6,000 m² of warehouse space. At the same time, the existing hall of 20,000 m² will be optimized through construction measures, allowing parts of the new business to be processed there as well. To optimize the flow of goods and supply chain management, Hellmann is establishing a digital warehouse management system for the long-standing customer in Bor: By introducing a digital warehouse optimization software that will be integrated into the existing warehouse management system, material flows will be managed even more efficiently using artificial intelligence.
Partnership for Over Seven Years
“For seven years, Hellmann has been a very reliable partner for us, understanding how to meet the complex requirements of our contract logistics smoothly and competently. This was also crucial for the current expansion of our collaboration until 2025, during which we are also considering further joint projects,” said Andrea Mandler, Head Supply Chain Logistics, Siemens Smart Infrastructure, Electrical Products.
“We are pleased that Siemens AG has not only extended the long-standing collaboration in the Czech Republic ahead of schedule but has also significantly expanded it. This clearly shows that we can sustainably convince with our tailored contract logistics solutions and look towards the future together,” said Volker Sauerborn, COO Contract Logistics Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
