10. November 2020Federal President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier has awarded Prof. Dr.-Ing. Raimund Klinkner the Cross of Merit on the Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. The manager and entrepreneur is being honored particularly for his numerous contributions to the logistics sector.
(Berlin) – Klinkner served as the voluntary chairman of the board of the non-profit Federal Association of Logistics (BVL) from 2007 to 2017 and dedicated himself wholeheartedly during this time to enhancing the reputation and further development of logistics.
He operates at the interface between business and science, production and logistics – utilizing his diverse knowledge and contacts to provide impulses and bring experts in logistics and supply chain management together for discussions – both in Germany and internationally. His focus has always been on promoting young talent. For 20 years, he taught as an honorary professor in the logistics department at TU Berlin and initiated the BVL Campus in 2008 under the auspices of the BVL, in collaboration with the German Academy of Foreign Trade and Transport, offering a wide range of seminars.
Review of Highly Successful Association Leadership
When Klinkner stepped down as chairman of the BVL board at the end of 2017 after reaching the maximum term allowed by the statutes, he looked back on a highly successful leadership of the association – and had new voluntary tasks already in sight. He is currently serving as the chairman of the presidium of the German Transport Forum – and remains closely connected to the BVL as an honorary chairman.
“Raimund Klinkner has been committed to the systemically relevant economic sector of logistics on the platform of the BVL for many years. On behalf of the board and all committees, I sincerely congratulate him on receiving the Federal Cross of Merit,” said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Wimmer, the current chairman of the BVL.
