29. November 2020Dematic GmbH is installing a five-aisle high-bay warehouse with 20,000 storage locations for the Austrian mineral water bottler Vöslauer in Bad Vöslau. This will increase capacity and the level of automation.
(Heusenstamm/Bad Vöslau) Dematic is automating the new warehouse of Vöslauer Mineralwasser GmbH. As part of the expansion and modernization of the logistics center at its headquarters in Bad Vöslau, the intralogistics specialist is constructing a five-aisle automatic high-bay warehouse in silo construction with 20,000 storage locations, as well as a pallet conveyor system with automatic precision measurement and control. The customized solution will be connected to the existing shipping building via a conveyor bridge and two pallet lifts. In the high-bay warehouse, Dematic’s stacker cranes with telescopic forks will ensure the automatic and double-deep storage and retrieval of pallets. With this facility, the beverage company will not only increase its capacity but also enhance the level of automation at the site. The completion and commissioning of the facility are planned for the first quarter of 2022.
Complete Intralogistics Automation
“We were able to convince Vöslauer with a complete package of intralogistics expertise, technical quality, and personal support. The solution consists of our proven standard components, which are not only highly reliable but also manufactured in-house,” says Jessica Heinz, Head of Marketing Dematic Central Europe. The order includes the complete intralogistics automation, including software solution for the new high-bay warehouse and the connection to the shipping area, which is centrally located between the new building and the existing block storage halls. The redesign of the central warehouse in Bad Vöslau was developed by the technical consulting and planning company Xvise innovative logistics GmbH.
The Dematic solution features a pallet high-bay warehouse with ten storage levels and five aisles, each served by stacker cranes. Using telescopic forks, the pallets are automatically stored or retrieved in double depth. Two pallet lifts then transport them to a conveyor bridge that crosses a public road and connects the warehouse to the shipping building. There, the pallets are distributed on sloped roller conveyors and automatically prepared at the loading gates. Reinhard Deimel, Supply Chain Manager of Vöslauer Mineralwasser GmbH, summarizes: “The solution enables us to achieve a fully automated and smooth material flow between the new high-bay warehouse and shipping.” The software for the high-bay warehouse has been integrated directly into the existing SAP WMS by the intralogistics specialist via the Dematic extension SubSuite. The hundred percent SAP solution thus operates without external software. With the facility, the mineral water company expects to process up to 250 pallets per hour.
Control of the Facility with Siemens S7
In addition to the conveyor technology supplied by Dematic, heavy unit load conveyors BK25, roller and chain conveyors, as well as roller lift and turntables are included. Dematic has also installed fire protection gates at the conveyor system’s passages. The control of the logistics facility is carried out using programmable Siemens S7 controllers. For monitoring the technical processes, Dematic has also integrated the process visualization system WinCC developed by Siemens into the solution. It enables a simple and clear flow of information for all incoming data and simultaneously serves as an interface between the facility and the operator. “In this way, we are always informed about the current status of the facility. Additionally, optimization potentials can be visualized and derived,” concludes Reinhard Deimel.
