trans-o-flex becomes partner of civil emergency services in Germany

trans-o-flex has committed to the federal government to provide transport capacity for medications and medical goods in emergencies and crises. The state ensures support if needed: police protection for delivery vehicles, access to restricted areas, prioritized mobile connection, and disruption resolution.

(Weinheim) Due to the efficiency of its transport and logistics networks and its significant role in the German pharmaceutical supply, trans-o-flex has been appointed as a partner of the civil emergency services in road traffic in the Federal Republic of Germany. This new status is associated with trans-o-flex’s self-commitment to provide transport capacity for medications and medical goods to the German federal government for emergency supply. Payment will be regulated according to the Federal Compensation Act. On the other hand, this status is linked to numerous special treatments that help trans-o-flex to deliver its services safely and reliably even under the special conditions of crises or disasters.

Especially relevant for the supply of the population

In fulfilling its tasks in emergencies, trans-o-flex receives state support. This means, for example: trans-o-flex vehicles are allowed to enter areas that are otherwise restricted, or they receive police escort protection. Furthermore, trans-o-flex is prioritized by state authorities in emergencies. Last but not least, trans-o-flex has received the so-called certification for telecommunications assurance due to its new status. This certificate is only granted to companies that are particularly relevant for the supply of the population, must be permanently reachable for the federal government, and whose telecommunications must function 100 percent even in crisis situations. Specifically, this means: telecommunications disruptions in the fixed network will be prioritized and resolved immediately. Additionally, trans-o-flex receives a special mobile connection that will have priority network access in case of a crisis.

Numerous discussions with government representatives

Before trans-o-flex received the new status, numerous discussions took place between government representatives and the company. “They approached us,” emphasizes Wolfgang P. Albeck. “But we were of course pleased about the trust placed in us and supported the discussions at the highest level.” The first contacts were made as early as August. The certificate was issued in November. In the meantime, representatives of the authorities have been convinced that trans-o-flex is one of the companies capable of ensuring the medical basic supply of the population in the field of transport and traffic. For example, their own and external transport capacities were examined, as well as the share of regularly transported goods and package quantities, especially in the actively temperature-controlled areas of 2–8 degrees and 15–25 degrees Celsius.
The achieved status is not time-limited. The certification for telecommunications assurance is valid for ten years.
