With an automatic system for loading trucks onto trains, CargoBeamer is also a pioneer of innovations in this field. Additionally, the operator will soon expand its services across Europe.
(Berlin) With CargoBeamer AG, the DVF welcomes an innovative company from the important sector of combined transport (KV) as a new member.
DVF Managing Director Dr. Heike van Hoorn: “The KV makes a significant contribution to achieving the goal of 25 percent market share of freight transport on rail. CargoBeamer offers an automatic system to easily load trucks onto freight trains. Thus, our new member provides a solution to one of the biggest problems in combined transport.”
Expansion to a European Network
Using CargoBeamer technology, both craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers can be transported environmentally friendly by rail, and an entire train can be loaded and unloaded simultaneously in just a few minutes. No modifications to the trailers are necessary. The company’s current route connections between Germany and Italy will be expanded in the coming years to a Europe-wide network of standard and specialized CargoBeamer terminals, making a fully automated digital transshipment easier than ever before.
Ideal Network
“With the German Transport Forum, we gain an important partner for mutual exchange in the transport industry. We are very pleased about this,” emphasizes Hans-Jürgen Weidemann, CEO and founder of CargoBeamer AG. “The DVF offers an ideal network of industry companies and politics to establish partnerships and work together for innovative, intelligent, and sustainable transport and logistics solutions.”
CargoBeamer’s system consists of patented wagons, transshipment terminals, and specially developed logistics software. The customers are primarily logistics service providers, freight forwarders, and transport companies from all over Europe. The innovative technology enables the unaccompanied transport of semi-trailers without the need for a tractor unit or driver. Additionally, transport by rail reduces CO2 emissions by 70 percent and alleviates congestion on highways.
