2. December 2020Instead of a joint Christmas party, the employees of SWAN GmbH at their locations in Augsburg and Nuremberg are donating this year to social projects. The Augsburg location supports the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Cancer Augsburg – LICHTBLICKE e.V. with a total of 1,000 euros. From the Nuremberg location, 500 euros go to the ecumenical warming center in Nuremberg.
(Augsburg) This year, it became clear early on that a Christmas party like in previous years would not be possible. Until now, all SWAN employees usually gathered for the Christmas party at one of the locations in Altenstadt, Augsburg, Nuremberg, or Wächtersbach. Initially, Managing Director Alexander Bernhard considered four smaller, location-based celebrations. However, in order to reduce personal encounters amid the Corona pandemic, he sought and found a new way. “In line with the New Work approach practiced at SWAN, we focused on equal participation for our employees and let them decide what they preferred this year. We wanted to achieve the best possible outcome for everyone,” explains Alexander Bernhard.
Staff Decided on Charity
The SWAN staff had the choice between a restaurant voucher to support the currently heavily affected gastronomy and a donation in double the voucher amount to a charitable or social institution in the area. Employees could suggest an organization close to their hearts. The result is impressive: At the Augsburg location, 1,000 euros were raised, which will go to the Parents’ Initiative for Children with Cancer Augsburg – LICHTBLICKE e.V. Here, families with children suffering from cancer find support, a network, and a listening ear for their fears and worries. In Nuremberg, the ecumenical warming center of the Caritas Association and the City Mission is pleased to receive 500 euros donated by SWAN employees. The day facility provides homeless people with a warm refuge, a hot meal, and the opportunity for exchange. The majority of employees from Altenstadt and Wächtersbach voted for the restaurant voucher, thus supporting the local gastronomy. However, the SWAN employees do not want to completely forgo a reflective gathering. Instead of an in-person celebration, colleagues will meet for a virtual get-together. This year, the Christmas spirit will come in a different way.www.swan.dehttps://www.krebskranke-kinder-augsburg.de/https://www.stadtmission-nuernberg.de/ich-brauche-hilfe/beratung-und-begleitung/armut-und-arbeitslosigkeit/oekumenische-waermestube/
