6. December 2020DW Systembau GmbH is constructing a new corporate headquarters with an integrated logistics center for the textile retail company Ernsting’s family. (Schneverdingen/Coesfeld) Not only in the clothing of Ernsting’s family do aesthetics and modernity play an important role. Just as the products are tailored to the needs of customers, the architecture has also been adapted to the surroundings and the demands of the employees. “Architecture must be there for the people,” says Kurt Ernsting. This understanding is clearly reflected in the corporate headquarters in Coesfeld-Lette.
Retreat Spaces and Relaxed Working Atmosphere
The administrative buildings and sales centers from the 1970s have given way to a unique ensemble of buildings designed according to the visions of renowned architects Santiago Calatrava, Fabio Reinhart, Bruno Reichlin, Johannes Schilling, and David Chipperfield. All buildings are integrated into the garden landscape designed by Belgian landscape architect Peter Wirtz. Ornamental grasses, hedges, gentle hills, and small water basins provide employees with retreat spaces and a relaxed working atmosphere. Nature and architecture are in harmony here, creating overall harmony and thus offering inspiration. In 2019, with the completion of the expansion of the Internet Logistics Center, another architectural highlight was added. The facade design made of glass and clinker was created by the internationally renowned glass artist Nabo Gass, the construction supervision was handled by Wortmann Architects, and the general contractor was Arning Bauunternehmung GmbH. In the new building, for which DW SYSTEMBAU supplied over 25,000 m² of BRESPA® ceilings, goods for online commerce are commissioned and prepared for shipping across 4 floors,
Knowledge Transfer on the Construction Site
“High-quality architecture meets high-quality structural engineering” – a good reason to invite Prof. Dr. Jürgen Biernath from the nearby FH Münster along with his students from the civil engineering department to Coesfeld. Together with the construction company Arning and PEIKKO Germany, the students were introduced to the advantages of modern slim floor constructions, first theoretically with lectures in the construction container, and then practically on the construction site: The aspiring civil engineers were particularly fascinated by the slim slim floor structures made of ceiling-level DeltaBeam® beams from PEIKKO and 8-meter-long BRESPA® ceilings, as well as the speed with which entire ceiling fields were covered.
