6. December 2020The full-stack fulfillment expert Omnipack sp. z o.o. from Poland is investing in growth and internationalization. Three new investors have joined the team, and the additional funds will also flow into warehouse technology and the expansion of the DACH region.
(Warsaw) The full-stack fulfillment expert Omnipack completed a funding round on November 18, 2020, raising approximately 2.5 million euros. This brings the total investments to around five million euros. In addition to existing investors, the following new investors have joined: Dr. Cornelius Walter, who focuses on companies pursuing sustainable business models and committing to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals; Dr. Dr. Florian Drabeck, Senior Executive Advisor, investor, and former Global Chief Financial Officer at Westwing Group AG; and Nunatak Capital, a venture capital fund focusing on Central and Eastern Europe.
Expansion of the DACH Market
“Despite the significant impact of the Corona pandemic, we have managed to implement our plans for expansion and secure funding of around five million euros for the next development steps,” says Omnipack CEO Tomek Kasperski. The additional capital will primarily be invested in further growth, international expansion, and the development of proprietary technology and warehouse facilities. “This gives us the opportunity for further growth and increased profitability in the coming year. Additionally, we can take further steps to expand into the DACH market. This funding round demonstrates the high level of trust investors have in our company, both from existing and new investors. The interest exceeded our expectations by far.” Kasperski adds: “We are proud to have Dr. Cornelius Walter, Dr. Dr. Florian Drabeck, and Nunatak Capital as new investors. Their industry knowledge and extensive expertise will significantly support us in continuing our internationalization strategy and expanding into more countries in the coming years.”
Expert in Fulfillment Solutions
For over three years, Omnipack has been providing its customers with comprehensive fulfillment services: from goods receipt and warehousing to order picking, packaging, and shipping, as well as returns and complaint management. Thus, Omnipack is not only an expert in fulfillment services but also possesses proprietary IT technology that is continuously improved by in-house full-stack developers. This gives customers control over their logistics processes and the management of their e-commerce platforms. The company collaborates with all major e-commerce platforms and courier services. Today, Omnipack has two modern warehouses located strategically, enabling services such as same-day or next-day fulfillment delivery across Europe. About half of all existing customers come from European countries outside of the company’s headquarters in Poland, focusing on Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. From the very beginning of the company’s founding, it was clear that it would pursue an international course and support customers across Europe in their businesses.
Looking Ahead to Tomorrow’s Trends
Dr. Cornelius Walter summarizes: “The decisive reasons for my investment were two factors: on the one hand, the ongoing development of Eastern Europe into an increasingly significant digital logistics hub, driven by its geographical location and continuous innovation. On the other hand, the collaboration with the talented and experienced team at Omnipack, which is already keeping an eye on tomorrow’s trends and will play a crucial role in the booming e-commerce market in Europe.”
Joint Development Steps
Dr. Dr. Florian Drabeck adds: “I have a long-standing collaboration with Tomek Kasperski at Omnipack. As Co-CEO of Westwing Home & Living CEE, he built one of the largest e-commerce platforms in Poland, helping us implement our internationalization strategy. I invested in Omnipack because we believe in the experienced team and have already had the opportunity to experience the company’s strengths as an international logistics service provider in practice. We look forward to implementing the upcoming development steps together with Omnipack.”
Excited for Further Collaboration
Piotr Ciżkowicz, managing partner of Nunatak Capital, adds: “Thanks to the use of advanced data science solutions, it is possible, for example, to automatically adjust the type of packaging or size according to customer requirements for a specific product. Nunatak Capital, which operates as an operational VC fund, not only invests in startups that utilize data science for value creation but also supports them in their development. “The investment in and long-term support from Omnipack fits perfectly into our business model. We are excited about the further collaboration and our joint successes.”
