7. December 2020Jungheinrich AG donates an electric pallet truck of the type EJE 220 for the central warehouse of the Hamburg Food Bank. This organization provides food for over 30,000 needy people each week. Jungheinrich has been supporting the Food Bank for many years.
(Hamburg) Due to the Corona pandemic, this year’s shareholders’ meeting of Jungheinrich AG could not take place as an in-person event. Consequently, the traditional meal for shareholders following the main meeting was also canceled. Jungheinrich has now donated the saved money in the form of a forklift to the Hamburg Food Bank. The vehicle has now arrived at the Food Bank’s central warehouse in Hamburg-Tonndorf and has immediately started its service.
Extraordinary Institution
“The Hamburg Food Bank is an extraordinary institution that people rely on every day. We want to support the important work of the dedicated employees and volunteers in these challenging times with the donation of a forklift,” explains Dr. Lars Brzoska, CEO of Jungheinrich AG. Jungheinrich AG has been supporting the Hamburg Food Bank for many years. Several Jungheinrich vehicles are in use at the Food Bank’s warehouse. The new electric pallet truck of the type EJE 220 can lift loads weighing up to 2 tons to a height of 4.8 meters. Julia Bauer, a board member of the Hamburg Food Bank e.V., says: “A great and generous idea from Jungheinrich to use the saved money in this way. We are very grateful for the forklift donation! Especially since more and more people have been coming to the distribution points in recent months, which naturally increases the workload in the warehouse.” The Hamburg Food Bank supports those in need with food that is no longer intended for sale. The association collects these food items and supplies social institutions that operate food distribution points. Each week, 30,000 needy people are provided with food. The Hamburg Food Bank has a warehouse, including refrigeration and freezing facilities, where the forklift donated by Jungheinrich is put to use.
