Dec 14, 2020 at 7:07 PMStarting in 2021, DHL will once again take over the complete operational handling of the frozen central warehouse in Reken, Westphalia, as well as the on-site factory warehouse from iglo. DHL Supply Chain will manage the operation of the frozen central warehouse and the factory warehouse at the location in Reken, Westphalia. A cooperation is also planned for the new frozen warehouse in Bremerhaven.
(Bonn/Hamburg) DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, will become the exclusive partner of iglo starting next year. This is another step in the history of a long-standing partnership. For many years, DHL has been the distribution partner of choice at the Mannheim location, and DHL was already responsible for the Reken plant until 2006. Starting in 2021, DHL will once again take over the complete operational handling of the frozen central warehouse in Reken, Westphalia, as well as the on-site factory warehouse.
Also Responsible for Technical Functionality
In addition to handling the goods, DHL Supply Chain is also responsible for monitoring the technical functionality of the frozen central warehouse. Maintenance and servicing of the facility, which maintains a constant temperature of -25 °C, are also part of the services. At the factory warehouse, DHL Supply Chain is responsible for supplying production with raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods, along with all associated warehousing activities. Furthermore, DHL is working with iglo to identify additional optimization opportunities in the logistics chain.
DHL Supply Chain comments on the expanded partnership with iglo: “We are extremely pleased that after over 20 years as a service provider for iglo in the area of transport distribution and order management, we will also be entrusted with the operation of the frozen warehouse in Reken in the Münsterland starting January 2021, thus becoming the exclusive partner of iglo. We are very grateful for the long-standing, trusting collaboration and look forward to our successful future together with great joy and anticipation,” says Dr. Karsten Schwarz, Chief Executive Officer Germany & Alps, DHL Supply Chain.
Strategic Logistics Partnership
Markus Mischko, Managing Director iglo Germany, adds: “The long-standing, trusting partnership in transport logistics with DHL has encouraged us to take the next step towards a strategic logistics partnership. Therefore, starting in 2021, DHL will take over the operation of the frozen central warehouse of the plant at the Reken location in the Münsterland. We are also planning a collaboration at the Bremerhaven plant. We look forward to shaping our future together and further expanding our business.”
The planned cooperation between the two companies for a new building at the iglo location in Bremerhaven is expected to include the operation of a frozen warehouse for raw materials and a packaging central warehouse. In addition to the implementation of the construction, DHL Supply Chain is already providing logistical consulting, conceptualization, and project planning for the planned Bremerhaven warehouse. DHL Supply Chain is already offering a shuttle service between the plants in Reken and Bremerhaven.
