14. December 2020BVL Logistics Indicator Q4: Winter Blues and Spring Awakening?
14. December 2020Rhenus Home Delivery is moving into a new logistics center in Hanover near the A7. This facility was built according to the individual needs of the Home Delivery division. Following the planned completion in May 2021, the specialist for end customer deliveries will relocate from its current smaller site in Hanover to the new 6,000 square meter property.
(Hanover) In August of this year, the groundbreaking took place, and in September, the foundation work for the logistics facility began. This will include 5,500 square meters of storage and handling space, as well as a two-story office block. The logistics center will later serve as a temporary storage and handling site for furniture, white and brown goods, as well as fitness equipment for stationary furniture stores and online retailers targeting Northern Germany.
Locations in Hanover Summarized
“The warehouse and our offices were previously located at different sites in Hanover and will now be united under one roof. Another advantage is the shorter and improved walking distances with opposite goods in- and outflow areas. Particularly, the high number of loading gates compared to standard properties is a significant advantage given our high goods turnover,” explains Ronny Sassen, Managing Director of Rhenus Home Delivery. The number of loading gates will also increase from the current six to 20.
Great Conditions for Employees
Employees will benefit from a modern lounge area and improved ergonomic conditions such as height-adjustable desks. Furthermore, the site takes sustainable aspects into account and is certified according to DGNB Gold. The outdoor area will be equipped with six charging stations for cars and four stations for e-bikes. Additionally, the necessary infrastructure is already being laid out, which could be needed in the future for the construction of charging stations for trucks as well as a larger photovoltaic system on the roof. The hot water supply will be ensured through a solar system. From a security perspective, the logistics center will be equipped with an intrusion alarm system, video technology, and a security lock.
