(Meerbusch/Leersum) The CargoHub initiative Trucking CDM (Collaborative Decisions Making) at Schiphol Airport has invited Riege Software Netherlands to join the CDM project consortium.
In January 2020, CargoHub launched the first version of the cloud-based CDM platform to support players in the air freight supply chain. The neutral digital logistics information platform aims to reduce truck waiting times, improve transport planning and coordination, and expedite processing at the airport. The results of the first phase were positively evaluated by the air freight community. The project will continue over the next three years.
Bringing Experience
Henk Boorsma, partner and managing director of Riege in the Netherlands, gladly accepted the invitation to join the consortium. This allows Riege to make a strategic contribution with solid expertise in freight forwarding. Additionally, Riege’s customers can make a practical contribution by providing relevant data from their freight forwarding software Scope. Through the sum of these assets, Riege is able to actively support the CDM platform and thus drive digital transformation.
“We are excited that the new initiative has included us on behalf of our freight forwarding customers and due to our expertise. We look forward to being part of a problem-solving team that implements new processes at and around the airport,” said Henk Boorsma.
Predictability Instead of Uncertainty
The goal of the CDM program is to avoid congestion at handling agents and consequently delays in both export and import freight processes. A planning platform like Trucking CDM, based on transparent and predictable truck movements between road transports and handling agents, will minimize time loss and optimize processing in a digital environment.
Raoul Paul, founder of the CDM platform, welcomes Riege’s participation: “Riege Software is an expert in the field of freight logistics, and a considerable number of freight forwarders at Schiphol utilize their services. By leveraging their knowledge and expertise within the Trucking CDM project, we will gain further essential insights and can offer our members a truly efficient process improvement through genuine connectivity. We look forward to collaborating with the Riege team.”
The Importance of Reliable Data
To make the road transport of air freight to and from loading and unloading locations as efficient as possible, the predictability and transparency of truck movements are necessary for all stakeholders at the respective airports. However, predictability and transparency depend on reliable data.
Reliable data can be found with freight forwarders, who play a crucial role in the supply chain and therefore have numerous datasets, such as the customs status of shipments to be delivered or picked up from handling agents. By providing this data, Riege can make a substantial contribution to the platform together with the users of Scope, thereby significantly supporting the initiative.
Another Step Towards ONE Record
Through Trucking CDM, where handling agents are at the center, users of Scope can provide nearly all data and event statuses created in Scope or exchanged via Scope with a single data entry. This is another incentive for Riege to expedite the further development of Scope towards “One System. ONE Record.”
Since the data provided from Scope is available to all stakeholders, participants along the supply chain can operate as a single entity and achieve maximum efficiency from door to door. Thus, Riege and Scope contribute not only to the platform but also to its further development.
